One good thing about this round of agitation for 5 days banking is that there is total unity and unanimity among all 9 constituents of UFBU .even 2 constituent which are politically and ideologically aligned with the ruling party at the centre is firmly in agitation mode for this all important issue for bankers .
Hope and wish this unanimity continue till we achieve all saturday off for bankers like other financial sectors employees and government employees.

It is widely perceived that many Scale IV and above officers hide behind a self-declared and misleading notion that “Scale IV and above cannot go on strike.”This belief is incorrect and convenient, not legal or ethical.

Any officer up to Scale VII can participate in a strike, especially when the issues concern wages, service conditions, and financial matters that apply uniformly to all scales.

Ironically, many of those refusing to participate are comfortably enjoying the benefits secured through struggles led by Scale I–III officers—including:
Improved wage settlements
Two-Saturday holiday system
Future improvements that they did not fight for, but freely consume
No disrespect is required, nor is it necessary. Their silence itself speaks volumes.

However, it must be said clearly:

👉 Those who stay away from collective action while enjoying its fruits weaken unity.

👉 This includes senior officers and even GMs who choose convenience over conviction.

The fight for justice, fair wages, and dignity in service demands participation, not excuses.
History remembers who stood up—not who watched from a safe distance.

Today an urgent meeting was called by Ministry of Finance. MD&CEO of all PSU Banks attended the meeting. Govt asked all heads to provide uninterrupted banking services and minimise impact of Strike on 27 January 2026. Finance Ministry has also written a letter to all State Secretaries and asked them to use police.
