This is a very good self-own. Attacking a congressman who is second only to Chuck Grassley in Iowa in his relentless connection to his constituents (and Sen Grassley has about 50 years on Cong Barrett), for not being connected enough to his constituents, is by far what you should spend the rest of the campaign talking about. Or maybe you don’t have anything else? 🤷♂️
🚨 EXCLUSIVE: A massive childcare fraud investigation has uncovered a "ghost" daycare in Michigan that raked in over $1.1M in taxpayer funds, but doesn't actually exist.
“1st Premier Learning Academy & Daycare" received $1,121,641 in federal/state childcare funds over three years.
However, state databases show the facility does not have an identifiable childcare license anywhere in Michigan.
Neighbors and next-door cafe wait staff say they have never seen a single child enter the building.
When @RepWoolford conducted a site visit during advertised operating hours, the facility was abandoned and the "outdoor play area" was just a fenced-in asphalt parking lot with grass growing through it.
The daycare’s Facebook page features empty rooms and stock photos.

@MIHouseDems 1) None of this is accurate
2) Your solution to the problem seems to be…an online tax calculator that allows property owners to look up how much they likely have to pay? That should definitely fix the problem.
Except a supermajority of your Caucus - *checks notes* 41 of you - voted NO, including minority leader Puri. I guess taking credit for someone else’s work is built in to your platform. It is a big win for Michigan thanks to @RepMattHall, and @MI_Republicans…I guess thanks for your “better late than never” support? 🤷♂️
To be clear, this is the same Restaurant industry you tried to destroy with elimination of the tip credit and mandated/inflexible leave time policies for small businesses. If not for Speaker Hall and House Republicans, we were set to lose 25-30% of all restaurants in Michigan, hitting us working class the hardest. And even if those were not facts anyone could look up for themselves, what is your answer today? More taxes, more government, more regulation. That’s how we got here in the first place. “I’m from the government and I’m here to help”. Just terrifying.
@MIHouseDems@MI_Republicans Umm yeah if you believe property tax relief is a scam, then you have spent way too much time worshipping at the altar of government. Best you get out and talk to real people about this critical issue. This is a monumental self-own.
@philipskaggs@CraigDMauger@DNBethLeBlanc Phil - don’t you have an inside track with Moroun’s lobbyist? I don’t care, but seems like you could at least acknowledge that fact while you’re shedding crocodile tears and engaging in ad hominem attacks over a bridge that has. not. yet. opened.
Ok a few notes for the community:
1) HEAT is the law of the land. Most important sunshine legislation in 40 years.
2) There’s somewhere around 2,000 mins of Speaker Hall press conferences from this year. He’s the most available and clear Speaker in modern history, and if you bothered to watch his press conferences you would learn something.
3) Since when is the number of laws signed a standard for good governance? Have you ever met a law you didn’t like? Or is everything that empowers the State “good”, so less of that is “bad”?
4) Bi-partisan budget done. Ghost employees cut. Smaller budget than last year. CR passed and no payments missed. Y’all are reaching,
5) Paging Joe Tate. Joe Tate to the Governor’s office. Paging Joe Tate.
Your meme game is generally adequate. Using that as the standard, this one was average.
@philipskaggs@RanjeevPuri It’s a bit premature to spike the football in the pre-game warmup, but if you want to spend time practicing your touchdown dance in the end zone of an empty stadium hours before kickoff, go right ahead.
@RanjeevPuri HallDerangementSyndrome got the better of you and you talked your Caucus into a terrible vote - you got your Democrat State House caucus to vote against Rep Tisdel’s bill to ban cellphones in schools! Unbelievable. Michigan kids deserve better.
While I understand the basic sentiments behind this analysis - and agree winni Bh the actual war is paramount for democracy and the overall Middle East, partly this was only possible because a resolute President and Administration backed Israel and cut a good deal, and partly I wonder: WHY NOT ATTEMPT BOTH? The facts and history are on Israel’s side (some missteps notwithstanding) so why accept the loss on the PR front, which degrades future abilities to cut better deals? I’m so confused by this attitude. Win completely. The world needs that; so does Israel.
