Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris is out in the Texas oil patch, looking at those massive 400-foot wind turbines supposedly “powering a clean future”… while they’re actually running remote oil wells because there’s no grid electricity out there.

She asks, “They use clean energy to power the oil wells?”

Tommy fires back: “They use alternative energy. There’s nothing clean about this.”

He breaks down the “clean” reality: These things sit on giant concrete foundations poured with diesel, made from steel cooked in fossil fuel furnaces, hauled and cranked up by fuel-guzzling trucks and cranes, then slathered in petroleum lubricants just to spin for their measly 20-year life.

Tommy doesn’t stop there. Fossil fuels aren’t some dirty secret, they’re the lifeblood of everything modern. The roads you drive, the tires on your EV, the plastic in your phone, your clothes, your fridge, your medicine, your makeup and lipstick… you name it.

Pretending we can wave a magic wand and “transition” away from oil overnight? That’s the real delusion sold by folks who’ve never gotten their hands dirty in the real world.

In a tit-for-tat diplomatic skirmish between South Africa and Israel, South African government has expelled an Israeli diplomat for attempting to help the distressed people of the Eastern Cape, which the ANC government is woefully mismanaging.

The ANC claims that the Israelis violated diplomatic protocols and in response to the expulsion of the Israeli diplomat, the Israeli government expelled the South African ambassador to Israel.

You would think with all the criticism of the ANC over the last decade that they would take some of it on board and do something to alleviate the distress of the country’s poorest province, the Eastern Cape.

Instead, Israel fired its most powerful weapon developed to date - Friendship.
Israel offered the distressed folks of the Eastern Cape a helping hand at no cost. The only thing they wanted in return was friendship. But that was too high a price for the ANC to pay. I have frequently found the ANC‘s incompetence thievery and inability to manage, disgusting. But with this latest incident they have plumbed new depths of disgust which I never realised existed. And as for that so-called premier of the Eastern Cape, Mabuyane, he excels at nothing except being a mampara!
