Geoffrey Hinton, a Nobel laureate known as the “Godfather of AI,” issues an ominous warning to lawmakers: Congress may only have one year left to implement safeguards on AI before it loses control of it. https://t.co/2mTDMtqghx
“You just said that 10% doesn’t seem an unreasonable estimate that AI could kill all humans”
“Yes”
“Wow… oh my God.”

Our evaluations show that frontier AI's cyber capabilities are advancing quickly. The length of cyber tasks frontier models can complete has been doubling every few months, and this rate has become faster over time, with recent models exceeding our previous trends. 🧵
The cross is part of the mission. The imperialist occupation of the world is disrupted from within; the violence that until now has been the law is unmasked. The poor, imprisoned, and rejected Messiah descends into the darkness of death, yet in so doing He brings a new creation to light. #HolyThursday
Journalist: “You've said that Russia should repay for reconstruction of Ukraine. Do you believe Israel should repay for reconstruction of Gaza?”
EU chief spokesperson: “I have no comment at this stage.”
Let me say one thing that actually matters: if we believe their staff then what we're seeing, and that we're seeing eval results for, is not OpenAI's most capable model. They have more capable in-house. Without transparency requirements, this asymmetry will only grow, and will make meaningful awareness and governance increasingly ineffective + eventually impossible.
The community needs to keep pushing for transparency requirements and testing of models in development and deployed internally.
My current rough sense of history is that the last "moral panic" about social media turned out to be accurate warnings. The bad things actually happened, as measured by eyeball and by instrument. Now we all live in the wreckage. Anyone want to dispute this?
@wholemars If America builds Artificial Superintelligence, the ASI runs the world - not America.
If China builds ASI, the ASI runs the world - not China.
The notion that ASI would benefit either nation's geopolitical power reflects a total failure to understand ASI.
