the pokemon that was literally created after a real person for fun.

back in 1996, while game freak was preparing the original pokemon red and green, a developer named koji nishino was in charge of overseeing map design and spawn rates. he was so obsessed with his work that he was living in his office.

he was a nice and polite guy with a big appetite, famous around the team for eating pretty much anything. but his coworkers started when noticing his daily routine: nishino would raid the office fridge and straight up eat food that had gone completely bad, without ever getting sick.

they started calling him “kabigon”, japanese slang basically meaning “mold” or “mold monster” because he had an iron stomach that could handle leftovers from days without affecting him.

then art director ken sugimori took the joke to the next level and turned nishino into a pokemon. he modeled the design after nishino large build and sleepy eyes, and even kept the nickname “kabigon” as the official japanese name. the english name? snorlax.

one of the most wholesome and funniest developer easter eggs in franchise. thank you koji nishino and ken sugimori.

BREAKING: The Toronto International Film Festival has pulled an October 7 documentary over alleged “Hamas copyright” claims.

TIFF removed The Road Between Us: The Ultimate Rescue, which tells the story of Noam Tibon, who saved his two granddaughters while surrounded by Hamas terrorists at the Nova music festival.

The festival claimed the film used Nir Oz massacre footage “owned” by Hamas and that the filmmakers lacked “legal clearance” to use images Hamas itself posted on October 7.

The real reason, however, may not have been legal risk at all, but rather a desire to avoid “Free Palestine” protests.

By granting Hamas legal legitimacy and silencing the truth of October 7, TIFF chose cowardice.

Despicable.

Free Palestine just committed an execution outside an AJC event. The killer left behind a manifesto justifying it as “resistance.”

It’s literate, manipulative, and deeply evil. It romanticizes violence, flattens Jews into targets, and paints murder as moral clarity. This wasn’t written in a vacuum. It’s what happens when you flood the internet with slogans like “by any means necessary” and media like @NBCNews lies about 14,000 babies about to die in Gaza.

I read the whole manifesto. It’s not activism. It’s terrorism with a Tumblr aesthetic.

And I’d be lying if I said I’m not scared. I’m a public Jewish ally. I’ve spoken at AJC events. I’m visible. And this horror is exactly how someone decides people like me are legitimate targets.

Enough. Enough with the excuses. Enough with intellectualizing murder. We are watching antisemitic eliminationism go mainstream and too many of you are still pretending it’s radical chic.

Say something. Before more of your fellow Americans end up dead.
