@BilboParmesan@CapturingChrist Got it, so he didn’t actually say that “he has come to admire how the Catholic Church used to slaughter people like us en masse.”
Thanks for clearing that up buddy!
@BilboParmesan@CapturingChrist Gonna need to see your evidence of him saying “he has come to admire how the Catholic Church used to slaughter people-“. Surely you can find a clip of him saying those exact words, right?
Humanity, created by God in all its grandeur, is today facing a pivotal choice: either to construct a new Tower of Babel or to build the city in which God and humanity dwell together. In Jesus Christ, this humanity in its grandeur becomes the Way, the Truth and the Life, opening the path for each of us to grow toward fullness. #MagnificaHumanitas

Oh I totally agree with you on that. Absolutely. I just think that having a confession with a severe language barrier doesn’t nullify the sacrament if it’s incidental. I think we agree more on this than I initially thought.
That said, to your other point of the guy in the video: I think the intent matters. While what he confessed was likely lost in translation, it sounds like the penitent’s intent was there. If he was being truthful in the video, it sounds like he was in tears during his confession and thus that he wasn’t doing anything with deceptive intention. Idk we might just have to agree to disagree on it!
It’s gotta be parish to parish dependent, as my priests always give me advice but priests at other parishes haven’ . That said, we would both agree that the advice itself is not sacramental, right?
It’s a great feature, but your reconciliation is completely valid whether or not you are given advice. Would you say the Orthodox stance agrees?
@Sola_Requiem@TaxIsTheft0816@ShieldsClips I’m not here to defend Nazi Germany, but I am pretty sure that St Thomas Aquinas would absolutely disagree that there is no “bad guy” in warfare.
@gew984757@YakubianRapist@kittycatholica@LutheranAnswers Genuinely curious: why do you have a Byzantine cross in your name if you don’t understand how the sacrament of reconciliation works? Thought for sure Catholics and Orthodox had the same understanding.
@papism101 If you happen to remember me after you read his Papacy book, please tell me how you liked it. I’m really interested in buying that one eventually.
JUST IN: Pope Leo XIV responds to Cardinal Marx —
Says Vatican does not approve blessing of same sex couples.
Adds a blessing can be given to “all people” like at the end of Mass.
Leo states——
“First of all, I believe it is very important to understand that the unity or division of the Church should not revolve around sexual issues. We tend to think that when the Church speaks of morality, the only moral issue is a sexual one. In reality, I believe there are much larger and more important issues—such as justice, equality, the freedom of men and women, and religious freedom—that should take priority over that particular issue.
The Holy See has already spoken with the German bishops.
The Holy See has made it clear that we do not agree with the formal blessing of couples—in this case, same-sex couples, as you requested—or of couples in irregular situations, beyond what Pope Francis has specifically permitted by saying that all people should receive the blessing.
When a priest gives the blessing at the end of Mass, when the Pope gives the blessing at the end of a great celebration like the one we had today, there are blessings for all people.
Francis’s famous expression, “everyone, everyone, everyone,” expresses the Church’s conviction that everyone is welcomed, everyone is invited, everyone is invited to follow Jesus, and everyone is invited to seek conversion in their own lives.
To go beyond this today, I believe, could cause more disunity than unity, and that we should seek to build our unity on Jesus Christ and on what Jesus Christ teaches. This is my answer to the question.
In a tip submitted by an AF Post viewer, Pope Leo XIV urges Cameroonian students not to leave their country. Instead, the Pope suggests they improve their own country.
The clip contradicts claims that the Pope is pro “open borders.”

🛑 Pope on plane to Angola: “A certain narrative has taken hold—one that is not entirely accurate—due to the political situation that arose when, on the first day of the trip, the President of the United States made certain statements regarding me…. Much of what has been written since then is nothing more than commentary upon commentary, in an attempt to interpret what was said. An example is the important address delivered at the Prayer Meeting for Peace on April 16. That speech had been prepared two weeks earlier—well before the President commented on me and on the message of peace I am promoting. And yet, it was interpreted as if I were attempting to engage in a renewed debate with the President—something that is not in my interest at all.”
