My 1st PhD chapter (and first-ever paper!) is out now online in #GEOLOGY. We find the Laurentide Ice Sheet may have been more persistent across Pleistocene interglacials than previously thought. https://t.co/563tNzH0jA 🧵(1/8) @geosociety
Who does glaciology research? Who does it benefit? And why does it matter? @LizzUltee @meghana_ir @babybumpproject and I tackle these questions in a new study out @igsoc 🧵follows https://t.co/j4YqThQXyi
Reaching 1,367 meters below seafloor, we just drilled the second deepest hole ever by @TheJR using one bit 🥈
In water 2720 m deep, that’s like stacking 13 Eiffel towers end-on-end below the ship.

Took a break from manuscript writing today to talk New England geology with some awesome, inquisitive 5th graders @millpondschool! Thanks for having me along @EthanRockStory :)
Awesome day at @millpondschool for Ranger Day with fifth grade. Thanks to @dleblancene and Kyra Croft, as well as ranger dog Kilo, for sharing their rock stories! We walked across a lost continent today!

@MarsRoverMapper @drewchrist_geo@geosociety Thanks Shannon! Your research sounds super cool. I'm currently working on a LIS provenance paper myself. I'll have to keep any eye out for your results. 🙂

@clasticdetritus @PaulBierman2 @JRSO_IODP@WHOI@BOSCORF_NOC Thanks for the kind words! I definitely wouldn't say these results rule out a more complete deglaciation during MIS 5e and 11c. It's hard to say when exactly the exposure/lack of ice was happening, but we propose some possible scenarios using a simple modeling exercise.
Massive thank you to my advisor (Jeremy Shakun) and co-authors (Lee Corbett, @PaulBierman2, Marc Caffee, Alan Hidy). Also, a BIG shoutout to @JRSO_IODP, @WHOI, and @BOSCORF_NOC for the samples that made this project possible. (8/8)
