Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him.

I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.

I have kids. I work in AI every day. And honestly? I have no idea what their careers will look like in 15 years. But I know what will carry them through.

First, teach them to think critically. Today’s ai can create content blazingly fast but it can make mistakes and be sycophantic. And be used to manipulate. They need to be skeptical of anything they read, see or hear.

Second, be a problem solver. “How would you figure out how many people fly out of this airport everyday?” Help them break down a complex problem and brainstorm a solution. This will help them with #1.

Third, teach them about the time value of money.

Lastly, get them using ai and developing the intuition for #1 and how to use ai for #2 and #3.

First, and this might sound unromantic: make money and save it for them. We can debate educational philosophy all day, but the world is changing so fast that financial security might be the most practical gift we can give. Buy some gold bars. Seriously.

Second, nurture their imagination. AI rewards people with initiative and wild ideas. The kid who daydreams, who asks weird questions, who wants to try ten things at once? That kid will thrive. AI can execute. AI can be disciplined. What AI can't do is dream up something nobody's thought of before.

Third, build resilience. There are no more iron rice bowls (guaranteed lifetime jobs). Any stable, predictable job is exactly the kind of job AI will learn to replace. Our kids will likely switch directions many times in their lives. Learn something new, get replaced, pivot, repeat. It's more like being a hunter than a farmer. Schools don't teach this. Schools teach you to follow a linear path: high school, college, grad school, stable job. That linear path is becoming the most dangerous one.

Last, invest in their ability to connect with other humans. Not networking. Not schmoozing. Real emotional connection. Building trust, offering support, making people feel seen. As AI handles more of the rational, analytical work, the human ability to genuinely relate to other humans becomes more rare and more valuable.

I don't have all the answers. But I know that imagination, resilience, and genuine human warmth aren't going out of style anytime soon.

Yesterday Mark Cuban reposted my work, DM'd me, and told me to keep telling my story.

So here it is.

I'm a Master Electrician. IBEW Local 369. 15 years pulling wire in Kentucky. Zero coding background. I didn't go to Stanford. I went to trade school.

Every week I'd show up to a home where someone just bought a Tesla or a Rivian. And every time, someone had already told them they needed a $3,000-$5,000 panel upgrade to install a charger.

70% of the time? They didn't need it.

The math is in the NEC — Section 220.82. Load calculations. But nobody was doing them for homeowners. Electricians upsell. Dealers don't know. And the homeowner just pays.

I got angry enough to build something about it.

I found @claudeai. No coding experience. I just started talking to it like I'd explain a job to an apprentice. "Here's how load calcs work. Here's the NEC code. Now help me build a tool that does this."

6 months later — @ChargeRight is live. Real software. Stripe payments. PDF reports. NEC 220.82 calculations automated. $12.99 instead of a $500 truck roll.

I'm still pulling wire. I still take service calls. I wake up at 5:05 AM for work.

But something shifted.

Yesterday @vivilinsv published my story as Claude Builder Spotlight #1. Mark Cuban saw it. The Claude community showed up. And for the first time, I felt like this thing I built in my kitchen might actually matter.

I'm not a tech founder. I'm a dad who wants to coach little league and be home for dinner. I just happened to build something that helps people.

If you're in the trades and thinking about using AI — do it. The barrier isn't technical skill. It's believing you're allowed to try.
