Dear Nigerian States,
We want a state police force:
โ That is well-trained: Fully equipped with the right skills to protect and respect the citizens.
โ That is neatly dressed: Wearing their uniforms with pride, discipline, and absolute neatness.
โ That serves as a role model: Setting a high standard of good behavior and integrity for the entire Nigeria Police Force to follow.
โ That is free from corruption: Friendly to the community, harsh on criminals and always fair in judgment.
โ That knows the terrain: Working closely with locals to safely secure our towns, villages and streets.
Let us build a law enforcement system we can truly be proud of!
Many people are looking at State Police only from the security angle. They're missing the bigger picture.
State Police is not just about fighting crime. It's also about creating jobs and building an entire ecosystem of opportunities.
Think about it:
โข IT professionals managing surveillance, databases and communications systems.
โข Doctors, nurses and medical personnel providing healthcare services.
โข Engineers maintaining equipment, facilities and technology.
โข Administrative and desk officers handling operations and records.
โข Transport and logistics personnel supporting field activities.
โข Contractors supplying infrastructure, uniforms, vehicles and equipment.
โข Trainers, consultants and security experts building capacity.
Thousands of direct and indirect jobs can emerge from a fully operational State Police system.
Sometimes, the biggest reforms are not just about governance. They're also about economic opportunities, job creation and putting more money in the pockets of citizens.
By providing job opportunities for the young people you're also reducing the propensity to crime
โ @HeIsJayjam
@donteju All these states hiding behind powerlessness will have to recruit men and women to bolster their Policing capacity. Training, infrastructure, welfare, employment, it'll solve more problems than it'll create but Nigerians will first start with tearing it apart because of cynicism
State police will be only as good as the governor in charge.
Some states will get it right; others will get it wrong.
The upside is that there will be no ambiguity about who to blame when security fails.
Don't get it twisted.
All 36 States can survive without FAAC.
The same way you can survive without a sugar daddy. You cut that cloth according to the length of the cloth, not your size.
Instead of the Governor having 50 cars, he will have 3.
No Security Vote
No "Cargo airport" wink wink
No travelling to Canada to "look for investors"
No 500 aides
No estacode
No Abuja and Lagos Governors' lodge
No sponsoring aide to Dubai for "training" wink wink
No wardrobe allowance for Legislators
etc
etc
etc
FAAC is fake life
