Dear parents, please know we miss your children and want nothing more than to be back in school teaching and learning in person. Please also know the safety of students, families, and our community will always be our top priority.
Don't forget, school starts August 17 with remote learning for grades 1-8 and August 19 for ELC and Kindergarten students. We wish you a safe and strong start to the 2020-2021 school year.

There is no good choice or perfect choice but glad the district made the safest one Thanks @DPEA62! We got work to do to make this #remotelearning the best it can be!
As of now, none of us know whether we are teaching remotely or in person. The volume and complexity of planning that needs to happen in a very short amount of time is considerable.

@Irishcmc5 @Sophiagsteach @DPEA62 All of us care. In fact, we probably care too much. This is why we advocate for safe schools. We want to be in person, but only with a safe plan (which we do not have). Other districts developed hybrid models that work well to serve ALL, including special education students.
@DPEA62 2/2 The learning environment will be sterile and need to provide socioemotional and academic support from a distance. Children will be in desks all day. They cannot work in groups. They cannot meet with the teacher at the teacher's table. The teacher cannot circulate.
@DPEA62@DPEA62 and @62schools are doing what they can to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff. Unfortunately, this means school that is no where near what parents and community expect. There will be no hugs. No high fives. No private encouraging or redirection. 1/2
The School Bd. has directed D57 to move forward with the plan of holding full remote learning when school resumes and phasing in a hybrid model on 10/19 if it is deemed safe at that time. Please read Dr. Aumiller's Bd. mtg. recap/next steps, at this link: https://t.co/x5Dtietm67.
