@IHSAState You did your best to save every sport. Every school should start the yr remote b/c they do not have the resources or ability to keep everyone safe. The 4 sports that are approved for the fall should expand their rosters. Kids can join in order to socialize safely. @GovPritzker
@Irishcmc5@WSpyrison @kristennp24 @DPEA62 It will be hard, but think of your children’s favorite teachers. They’re greatly educated and I always feel they work hard for my kids. Your statement is insinuating that they are babysitters. They aren’t. We have kids in a global pandemic. It’s tough. It’s not their fault.
@Irishcmc5@DPEA62 Colleen, my son was attending football camp at Maine West, and it had to be stopped and a message was sent that Someone at the camp contracted COVID. They were outdoors and distanced. I can’t imagine what would happen inside a school. This will be tough but we’ll save lives.
@Irishcmc5@DPEA62 I am thinking about the children of DP & my own kids. I am also thinking about the elderly and everyone in between. Opening schools will spread this through our community. There is absolutely no way to open a school safely right now. It’s sad. I feel bad. But it’s a pandemic.
@GridironRams Every school should go completely remote, the way that you are. The sports that are allowed to meet should expand their rosters. Kids can get socialization in a safe and distanced outdoor way.
@Dion_JTsports My opinion is that they did their best to save every sport. Schools should be all remote, and the four sports that can start now should expand their rosters. Kids can play those sports in a safe way in order to socialize with peers.
@KurtPegler It’s good that they said that schools can be remote and still compete. Don’t want sports to sway a school’s decision to go remote for the health of the community.
Proud of @62schools for making the right decision for the community by going to virtual learning. Hopefully after this semester, there will be more answers about vaccines and treatments. Thank you for giving us time to plan and taking away the stress. 🤝@DPEA62
Plaines, starting with your students, staff, and their families. I see teachers and @dpea62 imploring you to make the safe choice. You need to think of the community that you are affecting. You have time to change your mind but right now you’re making the wrong call.
In Des Plaines, we trust that our hard earned money will go toward making the community better and keeping our kids safe. Every other community and district seems to understand that things aren’t safe. We need to help
@62schools understand. DP citizens are not guinea pigs.
a responsible decision. Your choice to open could affect a resident who simply needed to go grocery shopping. It could infect my 73 year old mother when she goes to the doctor. The reach is wide. Make the right call like the districts around you. Protect the people of Des
As a citizen of Des Plaines, I‘m not happy I have the choice to send my kids to school or keep them home. I trust my kids’ teachers. They say it’s not safe. So it’s not safe. If 62 opens, kids will bring it home and you’ll bring it to stores and work. It will spread in DP @DPEA62
