Happy and relieved to see this work finally published.. starting a new research project from scratch is never easy! Kudos to the trainees who made this happen.

I do think that academia faces an existential risk. Our systems are outdated and time wasted on peer review and grants threaten to push talent out of academia.
It has been a long road to finally publish this collaboration with our medicinal chemist colleague! Hopefully there is another one to come on its mechanism of action in cells. https://t.co/eWQSlEk4IE
This week we highlight Dr. Diane Barber, Endowed Chair of the Department of Cell and Tissue Biology @UCSF, @aaas Fellow, and former WICB President. Uniting disciplines across scales, her work helps us understand stem cells and cancer. More at https://t.co/UoOezOPPFp #WICB50
Without NIH support ALL model organism databases-a crucial component of biomedical research-are threatened. Make your voice heard: https://t.co/OTeBCJzBZF.

We deeply mourn the loss of Edmond H. Fischer who died peacefully on August 27, 2021. He was 101. Eddy was a cherished member of our department for 68 years, a brilliant scientist, a great man, and an amazing colleague. A great loss. Our deepest condolences to his family.
I'm just so tired of this shit. These are just the obvious ones- a thread lest we forget.

Lots of people out there telling on themselves on what they think is an appropriate type/amount of sexual harassment that should be allowed by lab group leaders. If I was still in academia/starting grad school I would take a long look at what people are tweeting/liking this week.
I know none of the details, but given how unwilling universities have been to sanction prominent male faculty for sexual harassment in the past, have to figure the evidence here was damning and overwhelming. Doubt this was the first the Whitehead had heard of this though.
It takes enormous courage to hold the powerful to account for their abuses. Daria's former boss, Ruth Lehmann, new Whitehead Director, has always fought for what she believed in and has now done it again. Major respect. https://t.co/RQpkMqUClX
