When a small town packs into a townhall to hear about an AI data center project, the conversation gets interesting. $APLD
In Episode 2 of Behind the Build, Applied Digital takes viewers inside a real townhall in Harwood, North Dakota — where residents ask direct questions about one of the largest AI infrastructure developments in the region.
What’s being built?
Why here?
What does it mean for the community?
This is the side of AI infrastructure and hyperscale data center development most people never see.
No polished renderings. No press release headlines. Just real conversations happening in real time.
Because before AI factories become operational, trust has to be built first.

A lot of people say college is a waste of money.
But here's what I think and discussed on @Memesandmkts
If you are sitting in a Stanford class with names like Sam Altman, Satya Nadella, Jensen Huang, and Ben Horowitz on the speaker list, that is a very different kind of ROI.
Five years ago, Applied Digital set out to create something different.
We focused on building — not headlines.
Today, that work is operating at scale.
🔷 600 MW of leased critical load.
🔷 $16B+ in contracted revenue.
🔷 Delivered our first 100 MW of critical load at Polaris Forge 1, achieving Ready for Service.
Built with purpose. Delivering real impact.
To our team, partners, and the communities who believed in what we were building — thank you. This doesn’t happen without you.
We’re just getting started. $APLD

$APLD Applied Digital quietly made a pretty important move for the AI plumbing layer.
What happened
Applied Digital led a $25M funding round for Corintis, a Swiss startup building direct-to-chip liquid cooling using microfluidics for high-density AI data centers. This takes Corintis’ total funding to $58M and the new cash will expand its U.S. presence (Bellevue, WA), scale manufacturing, and accelerate customer rollouts after signing “multiple new tech giants.”
Corintis’ tech is built to be a drop-in replacement for standard cold plates or even integrated directly inside GPUs. $MSFT Microsoft testing has shown up to 3x lower chip temperatures vs standard cold plates, which means higher power density per rack, better energy efficiency, and lower water use.
Why this matters for AI infrastructure
Liquid cooling is no longer optional at the frontier. As GPUs move toward 1000W+ per chip, air cooling hits a wall. Corintis is attacking this with micro-channels that route coolant directly over the hottest parts of the die, and they are explicitly designing for higher coolant temperatures and reduced fresh-water consumption. That combination matters for both power bills and sustainability constraints as AI campuses scale.
Applied Digital is positioning itself as an “AI Factory” operator, not just a landlord with power hookups. Management is very explicit that advanced cooling is now a prerequisite for ultra-high-density GPU systems, and this deal is part of a broader strategy to control more of the stack: power, cooling, and campus-level design.
Strategic angle for $APLD
This investment slots in next to a few other big anchors on their side:
•A long-term lease with an investment-grade U.S. hyperscaler at Polaris Forge 2
•400 MW of lease agreements with $CRVW at Polaris Forge 1
•A $5B partnership with Macquarie Asset Management to finance and scale new AI campuses
Cooling is one of the main governors on how much GPU you can deploy per square foot. If Corintis can reliably deliver 3x lower temps and higher coolant temps at scale, $APLD gets a path to:
•Pack more GPUs per rack and per megawatt
•Improve PUE / energy efficiency numbers over time
•Offer denser, higher-margin “AI Factory” footprints to hyperscalers and specialized AI customers
Corintis’ CEO frames it as a “holistic approach from silicon to infrastructure,” and that is exactly the game Applied is trying to play: be the place where chip vendors, hyperscalers, and new AI workloads can push right up against the physical limits of power and cooling without blowing up TCO.
Zooming out, this is less about a single $25M check and more about $APLD trying to secure a lead in next-gen cooling IP while it is still early. If AI data centers are the new factories, then whoever controls the most efficient thermal and power stack gets a compounding edge on cost, density, and returns over the next decade.
JUST IN: 🚀 @APLDdigital marks a milestone in its AI infrastructure with the Polaris Forge 1 AI Factory Campus in North Dakota now operational. The first phase delivers 50 MW of a 100 MW building, paving the way for $11 billion in lease revenue with CoreWeave. $APLD
