The origin of this story is one of my colleagues asked for an immunity explainer, and I said, "GOD NO, have you any idea how complicated immunology is, that would kill me," but then I realized that I am already dead inside, and wrote the piece.

#TWiV is always excellent, and during the pandemic has been such a great way to stay up-to-date on SARS-CoV-2 science. This episode on the promise of rapid testing is especially enlightening. Highly recommend! https://t.co/4nfmO8je5M
The team went to great lengths to incorporate all the data we could, state assumptions clearly, and present the model in a way that folks can understand. We hope it proves to be useful.
It was a real privilege to work on this project - an unusual confluence of science, engineering, data, and design. I’m especially proud of our long list of citations and attention to detail in parameterization.

While no model is perfect, it does three things a bit differently: (1) goes to extensive lengths to fit a sensible parametric model to observed data (both medical and mobility);
Another key feature: our model runs all the way to the end of the year. Many models end sooner. This longer timescale inherently gives us a greater probability to be wrong, but we felt the value of modeling a potential ‘second wave’ was important enough to take this risk.
I wrote a blog post that details Saturday's finding of "cryptic transmission" of #SARSCoV2 in Washington State. Genomic evidence suggests that #COVID19 has been circulating here since Jan 15, but undetected due to lack of testing. https://t.co/cYmyTdU4Cg
As news reports begin to express concern about mutations in #nCoV_2019 I wrote a piece with the great @XuetingQ to help the public make sense of mutations and evolution - including what sequence can tell us, and what it can't https://t.co/CgSqnPBChF
We're hiring software engineers in my lab for our UCSF Data Library project! Enable important disease-focused biological research, have flexible work hours (remote ok!), work with a fun academic data science group.

We have a few more spots available for our upcoming Stripe Women in Data Science event on June 6th. Come hear cool talks spanning DS/eng fields and meet like-minded folks. RSVP here! https://t.co/MDC27svxpu
I'm excited to be speaking at @kaggle’s #CareerCon2019 this Thursday 4/18! I hope that sharing a bit about my journey from computational immunology to data science will be helpful to those contemplating data-oriented careers!
So excited to be speaking this year at the Women in Analytics conference at Facebook on April 12! I’ll be talking all about forecasting methods. Apply to attend here: https://t.co/scDKCfDb7N
