Still a WIP so the shanty is a bit vacant at the moment, but I'm really pleased that my layer-based lighting system works for this. Final result will only darken the room at night.

I'm gonna be honest with you what the hell, and I think you'll give this game a shot.
I don't like chess and I don't know why I'm building a chess tactical game. Well I know my friends (team) convinced me.. they had a strong vision inspired by Balatro and it actually sounded pretty cool but I wasn't sure. Not my kind of game and hard to market.
Besides production and other stuff I do the marketing, so I deal with the pain of promoting a chess game that chess players dislike (they're too purist) and non chess players reject bc you know, it's chess! but without chess it sounds too generic... Never dealt with anything like this. But the truth is, the game is a drug, feels awesome and gets players, including myself, genuinely addicted. Demo is getting almost 100% positive reviews so it's actually working.
I still haven't found a way to explain how insanely valuable chess is to the game, for a player like me who dislikes chess (I mean I admire it as a game, but I just don't like to play). It brings the tension, it's absorbing, brain melting, it hooks me.
I don't think there's an easy way to explain this in the 2 seconds of attention you get in socials, so I just wanted to tell you the truth, from my personal account. You know I mainly talk about other indies, but I enjoy sharing pieces of what I build from time to time. After all being a real indie is what makes me understand other indies, and thoughts and experiences about marketing are specially useful in our industry.
