صرّح المتحدث الرسمي لوزارة الدفاع، العقيد الركن سعود عبدالعزيز العطوان، بأن عدداً من الطائرات المسيّرة المعادية استهدفت اليوم مبنى الركاب (T1) بمطار الكويت الدولي نتيجة العدوان الإيراني الآثم، ما أسفر عن أضرار مادية جسيمة في المبنى وإصابة عدد من الأشخاص، حيث تلقوا الرعاية الطبية اللازمة.

وأكد أن القوات المسلحة تتابع الموقف بالتنسيق مع الجهات المعنية، وهي في حالة جاهزية تامة للتعامل مع أي مستجدات، واتخاذ كافة الإجراءات اللازمة للحفاظ على أمن البلاد واستقرارها.

At a time of increased concern for nuclear safety in the region and following the recent attack on the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant, it was important to be in the UAE and reaffirm the @IAEAorg’s support. The professionalism, transparency and close cooperation shown by the UAE authorities and institutions reflect the highest standards of nuclear safety and security.

We also exchanged on the growing role of nuclear energy worldwide, including advanced reactors and SMRs, and their importance for energy security, economic development & emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.

At the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the UAE 🇦🇪, where a drone strike on 17 May highlighted once again why nuclear facilities must never be targeted and why such attacks are completely unacceptable.

Last night, we launched the first-ever European Film Festival in Ras Al Khaimah with @RasAlKhaimahArt in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

In her opening remarks, Her Excellency Lucie Berger, EU Ambassador to the UAE, said: “This initiative reflects the growing partnership between the European Union and the United Arab Emirates, built on mutual respect, shared interests, and a belief in the importance of cultural exchange as a bridge between people.”

Audiences then enjoyed the screening of the Maltese film The Theft of the Caravaggio, a mystery drama exploring the importance of art, identity and family.

The European Film Festival continues in Ras Al Khaimah throughout the week until 6 June, with daily screenings of European and Emirati films.
