I basically think the average voter is pretty wrong on:
1) Nuclear power (it's good)
2) Foreign aid (we spend very little on it and should spend more)
3) Climate change (a majority say they're not willing to have any additional amounts of their tax money spent on climate. The national average willingness to pay for things that help with climate is ~$300 per year)
4) Immigration (I think it's broadly good across the board, and definitely good to get more high skilled immigrants specifically)
5) Price controls in general (bad!)
I'd like governments to patiently nod along to voter concerns but quietly approve more nuclear, spend more on foreign aid, pay way more on climate, and allow at least more high skilled immigrants. I just flat out think it's wrong for politicians to have 1-1 similar views to the median voter and sometimes they need to diverge.
93 years & 231 days old Ann Esselstyn dead hangs for 2 min 52 seconds! To set new WR. (Maybe we call it live hangs instead now?) Distal strength reflects many things.
I will not send you guys DMs; I will make it public. My family has been planning this vacation for over 9 months. We paid for our suite on the cruise for a family of 5, totaling upwards of $7,000. We are supposed to arrive at the harbor by 2 p.m., with the ship sailing at 4.
We booked a super-early flight that cost a little over $1,400, and I paid $240 for extra luggage.
For this vacation, my wife and I cleared our calendars, with a running cost of at least $30,000 for the whole week.
Last night we tried to check in but realized the flight was overbooked, and even after checking in, we weren’t assigned seat numbers.
I also paid $80 for remote parking at DFW for 6 days, just for convenience.
We told my wife we had to get to the airport. Our flight was at 6:30 a.m., so we left home at 3:30 a.m. and arrived before 5 a.m.
The first attendant told us there weren’t enough flight attendants, so the flight was cancelled. We spoke to another one, who said it was a weather issue in Miami.
What I know is that the flight went to Miami, but because it was overbooked, they randomly cancelled some passengers.
What upsets me most is that my wife warned me about this airline. Also, my son is supposed to turn 9 on Wednesday, all of that is gone.
Royal Caribbean did not refund our money. My children’s spring break and my son’s birthday have been ruined just because we booked with Spirit Airlines.
If Congress doesn’t act, the last nuclear arms control treaty between the U.S. and Russia will expire. It would pointlessly wipe out decades of diplomacy, and could spark another arms race that makes the world less safe. This piece is worth the read. https://t.co/NPtKyjYRml
a driver just ran a red light and almost hit me in midtown.
I looked up the license plate and this car has 70 school zone speeding violations in the past 6 months, including a single day with four tickets!
it’s absolutely absurd that this driver is allowed to stay on our roads
unfortunate that the nyt & guardian have picked up "building" as what killed flaco, depressing to see the tweets blaming "skyscrapers." in collisions, it's untreated glass that kills birds-- and the lowest few floors of glass usually do more damage than any glass higher up
Probably the best thing you'll see today.
In 2017, a group of developers hilariously competed for who could create worst volume control interface in the world.

1 year before her brother's birthday. She should be here to show him these awesome places to play for his first birthday. Instead she'll just be a photo that we show him. This is what 3.5 ton vehicles can take away.
I can tell you what happens: your heart, mind, future, hopes all shatter in an instant. Everything you ever knew, thought, expected is affected.
Think it can’t happen to you? Think again. 💔
The stuff uncovered in the Twitter whistleblower report is much crazier than anything in the "Twitter files" but it's much less politically/tribally salient so it got no attention. Going to do a thread on some of the craziest things, in no particular order.
Every parent I know is scared.
I’ve been called strong, brave, advocate.
I’m a mom. My daughter’s life was cut short by needless & preventable traffic violence. I’m distraught. Broken.
No parent should have to fear for their child’s life. No parent should live this tragedy.
Finally made the time to read this. Between the blanket forgiveness that is granted to drivers and the lack of will to reduce individual car use (or improve non-driving alternatives) and to make our street designs safer, things can feel pretty hopeless.
