@nanransohoff@BentFlyvbjerg@dgardner I wrote a piece last year about how the future of climate tech/cities/housing will be based on the notion and practice of tech and structures that are modular and interoperable. Advances in computational power and lower costs for modeling will be key.

I wrote about this last year. The future of housing/cities/built environment will be modular, interoperable, and mass manufactured. Only way to bring down the cost curve and far more practical in a world where large climate swings will force rapid adaptability. Rethink permanence.

Thoughtful comms/PR in the climate space will be fundamental to meaningful behavior change and increased consumer adoption of low/zero carbon appliances/products/solutions.
Hello climate friends. I’m doing something a little crazy and need your help!
After 3.5 wonderful years @carbon_180, I’m off to build a CDR verification company 🥳
I’m convinced that robust MRV is critical to creating a trusted CDR industry that delivers real climate value 👇🧵
@hausfath@guardian A reminder to all climate tech investor friends and peers to please invest in high integrity MRV opportunities. The time value of carbon is far too great for us to misallocate capital towards CDR efforts that never existed in the first place.
Accountability = Additionality ✅

A 9-month investigation by the @guardian and others finds that "more than 90% of rainforest carbon offsets by biggest provider are worthless".
This is a sizable part of the carbon offset market, and should provide a wake up call on the need for reform. https://t.co/Z7p2K0AqVE
a US federal carbon removal procurement pilot has made it into the omnibus spending bill!
2022 truly is the break-out year for carbon removal. federal procurement would be a huge speed and scale unlock for everybody working on cleaning up the atmosphere
Thank you to @emilypont@grist for making this clear distinction between DAC and CCS in her article on the IRA's impact on carbon capture https://t.co/zRIVLBrCkR
I very much agree with Jane. The reality is that we have deep unknowns about the future capability and cost trends of climate technologies. In the face of those unknowns, our best bet is to invest in a portfolio of tech with redundancies, where we don't need all to succeed. /1

Today we release a new report: "Role of Electricity Produced by Advanced Nuclear Technologies in Decarbonizing the U.S Energy System". Below lies a thread (🧵🪡)
Congrats to @johndoerr on this effort! I had the pleasure of hearing and learning from John & @rypan at an event for @speedandscale earlier this year. I admire his dedication to #climate issues and I’m hopeful the DSS inspires many more to engage with #sustainability efforts 🌎

This is why I believe the next several decades in climate will be the largest scale global exercise in accountability, transparency, and integrity. 👇🏼

Capture and accounting are fun and exciting.
MRV is less sexy but we need it make sure the sequestered carbon is actually sequestered
