A thing I really don't like about slutcloud/slutcon/rmn discourse is that it tends towards a Madonna/ whore dichotomization of women.
This is obviously bad. Reasonable people on all sides can agree this is bad.
@freed_dfilan I've been dancing most evenings, either at events or scheduling 1 on 1s. That means the days I'm not dancing I end up being really busy catching up with tasks and not wasting time. When I do relax and watch TV that feels good and like a nice break too, since so much time is busy.
- Intentionality in how you want your partner to feel. (Held? Cared for? Safe? Those are usually what I go for when I lead. And beautiful and calm. )
- Intentionality and presence in touch
- Presence. Being Here.
@vincent_yc_li Was just going to say this sounds like what it feels like to make the transition to good connected dance lead. (People think it's moves and technique, but after a minimum bar is met it's emotional regulation, care, etc.)
Then I saw you already likened this to a dance, so..
@AriZerner If you come to either zouk or tango with me then you can be in a social scene where all your conversations are about dance.
(But it's still in the bay area so probably everyone KNOWS about "what's going on", it's just not as interesting as "grounding".)
@ciphergoth@benryanwriter I am a "don't like big age gaps" person, and about age 25 is when I completely stop caring. 20/36 bothers me more than 25/70.
Thought the stove in my new apartment was broken. Took me like 5 minutes to realize it was an induction stove. Turns out it's my pots that are broken now.
@ManishEarth@drethelin All my friends (with jobs) are currently complaining about working too much.
(Or if they aren't complaining, when I hear how much they are working I think they should be.)
@NunoSempere "Do I want to be with this person?" makes for a healthier relationship and mindset than "Could I do better?" At least after maybe the initial dates.
@NunoSempere This "Could I do better?" mindset is bad and makes bad relationships. (And I keep seeing it amongst the crowd this week).
You leave when the relationship itself becomes untenable. Your "BATNA" is being single. But being single is fine.
@ruben_bloom In their daily life they work, watch tv, maybe hang with friends, etc. Only decide to go to museums, actually SEE what's around them, make the most of their time the 2 weeks a year they happen to be elsewhere.
