I've had an X account since 2010 and never felt the desire to post anything. Sixteen years of just observing. This is the first thing I've felt was worth breaking the silence for so I started The Primer Desk to reach out to others that have a sense of curiosity.
I spent over 20 years as an institutional trader so markets have been my whole working life — but the thing that never faded was plain curiosity about how things actually work. And for years I've read research — sell-side notes, think pieces, long threads — and kept hitting the same wall: most of it tells you what to think, and almost none of it shows you the machinery underneath. So I built the resource I always wanted and could never find.
The Primer Desk takes one subject — an industry, a company, a chain of value — and explains it properly, from first principles, until you can see where the durable economic value actually concentrates: the parts that are genuinely hard to compete away, and the parts that only look that way. Every claim is traced back to a primary source, so you never have to take my word for it.
What I hope you get from it isn't a conclusion to agree with. It's a working model you can hold in your own head — enough to form your own view, and enough evidence to argue with mine in the open.
No investment advice. No price targets. No positions. Just an honest attempt to understand how things work, and where the money that lasts really sits.
The first briefs are live — the AI infrastructure supply chain, US nuclear, the political economy of Latin America, SpaceX, and more.
If you've been looking for the same thing, come read, check the sources, and tell me where I'm wrong.

The great ones don’t do it for money or fame or power.
Or to build an institution, or to help others, or to save the world.
Like a child tinkering, they create it for its own sake.
Free of the burden of ambition.
Deaf to the demands of the world.
$SPX is headed into a short term low. In the August uptrend it made a low on day 35. This time it's likely to bottom on day 34/35 which means a low on 12/1-12/2. A close below 3906 will lead to 3810. The bears are confident Powell will deliver tomorrow. Will he? Let's see.
A startup in India is making these sneakers (a $70 billion market) made of garbage (12 plastic bottles and handful of trash bags). And for $110, they will be shipped anywhere in the world.

1/n A note on testing- not all labs are reporting yet (or promptly), but the ones that do, report that 90% of tests (which are usually people exposed or w/ symptoms) are #COVID19 negative. That means even among the highest risk people, most don’t have #coronavirus...
