Disney+ is quietly hoping you never tap the search bar and type a 4-letter word.

I did.

The word was "IMAX."

26 Marvel movies appeared in a format I'd never seen with up to 26% more picture than the standard version I'd been watching for 3 years. More sky. More action.

More of the actual frame the director shot. I'd been watching the cropped version on a $1,500 TV and had no idea a bigger picture was one search away.
Then I started digging.

There were R-rated movies on the platform I couldn't see because a single setting was hiding them. There were deleted scenes, blooper reels, and full behind-the-scenes documentaries sitting behind a tab I'd never tapped. There were sing-along versions of every major animated film. There were curated collections, organized by decade, by universe, by timeline that the homepage never surfaces.

A friend of mine, a former Disney+ content strategist who spent 3 years deciding what gets promoted on the platform told me something that changed how I use the app:

"Disney+ ships the version that's safe for a 3-year-old. That means the default content rating hides hundreds of titles. The homepage algorithm shows you what Disney wants you to watch — not what actually exists. And the features that make this a premium streaming experience are buried so deep that 90% of subscribers never find them."

I changed 10 things that evening.
Here's everything I changed 🧵

🌀 The NOAA hurricane season outlook favors a below-average level of storm activity in the Atlantic this year, very sensible given developing El Niño conditions, which are generally hostile to Atlantic hurricanes.

That said, it's important to be prepared with a hurricane plan each and every year; it's impossible to predict what land areas will get struck, and the overall level of expected storm activity doesn't provide assurances about the number of hurricane landfalls that will occur.

Be smart and stay safe this season!
