@SatPaper As usual there are no names for these ‘Labor voters’

[UNRWA @UNRWA]

The State of Israel ordered UNRWA to vacate all premises in occupied East Jerusalem and cease its operations in them by 30 January 2025.

This order is in contradiction to international law obligations of UN member states including the State of Israel, which is bound by the General Convention on Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations.

United Nations premises are inviolable and enjoy privileges and immunities under the United Nations Charter.

The State of Israel is a signatory -without reservations- to the General Convention on Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations and enacted its provisions in its domestic law.  These provisions oblige the State of Israel to respect United Nations privileges and immunities, including respect for United Nations premises.

UNRWA property and assets including in East Jerusalem are immune from search, requisition, confiscation, expropriation, and any other form of interference.

Claims from the Israeli authorities that UNRWA has no right to occupy the premises are without foundation. They promote anti-UNRWA rhetoric, placing the Agency’s facilities and personnel at risk. The Government of Israel has stated publicly that the aim to vacate UNRWA premises in Sheikh Jarrah is to expand Israeli illegal settlements in occupied East Jerusalem.

The State of Israel must take all appropriate measures consistent with international law obligations to ensure that UNRWA’s property and installations are respected and protected.

Trump's furious because as a Bishop, Budde can move as far she wants diagonally, but as a Russian pawn he can only move one square at a time.

Donald Trump. An Apology.

The new Private Eye is out now

Note to journalists: If you are writing about these wildfires and not mentioning climate change at all, you are complicit w/ an agenda-driven campaign of misinformation by the right.

A Majority of Republicans Say They are A-OK With Trump Suspending the Constitution

Have you ever had a random conversation with someone that just sort of stays with you over time?

I had one such conversation back in 2019 or so participating in an event.

[Ben Davison @Ben_Davison1]

Yep, I’m a Labor voter and a unionist.

John Hewson is neither of those things.

Yet we agree on the state of the Commonwealth Budget and the economic performance of the current Labor government.

Why?

We may not agree on everything but we are BOTH committed to REALITY.

@bobjcarr Imagine climbing over that range as did the great Shackleton after rowing across the Roaring Forties!

[AndoSC @eekhelp]

@Ben_Davison1 @D_LittleproudMP I rather think they are old sheep that we wouldn’t eat.

[AndoSC @eekhelp]

@AusCommenter Plus these are old and worn out sheep that don’t owe the farmer anything. If your business depends on inhumane treatment of animals at end of life it’s not viable.

[Habib Khan @HabibKhanT]

In Afghanistan under Taliban, women are now banned from being visible through windows or even cooking near them. The Taliban supreme leader in a new directive forbids building windows that could reveal women. This follows earlier rules silencing women entirely.

@NickBryantNY So good to see the woke captain taking 3 wickets and leading his team to a great win.

[AndoSC @eekhelp]

@Cam_Walker Recommend Nick Bryant’s book The Forever War - America’s Unending conflict with itself. Longstanding racism explained.

[Craig Foster @Craig_Foster]

Hope you are able to take some time to reflect on 2024 and look ahead to the new year.

In doing so, there is much that needs collective voice and action.

Issues that affect us all, humanity, and the only planet we have, and without relying on billionaires to find a new one while allowing this one to degrade and people to suffer.

2025 is a good time to renew our commitment to each other, to shared human rights and objective standards of conduct among countries, and to directing actions and resources towards a sustainable future for our kids.

Oblivia Coalmine.

Something to think about over the break.
