@MBridegam Definitely. Saw patients given 5150s merely for challenging authority. But most older nurses-who started careers when pay was low, had a genuine desire to care for patients. And I knew great young nurses, too. But higher salaries sometimes had paradoxical effects on recruitment.

@MBridegam Now that I work for lawyers, I realize that each one of those victims could have sued UCSF. But then what? Where would they go after that? And it’s a very damaging process to be a whistleblower.

@MBridegam Yeah, you’re right. I hear this a lot from office workers - that people sleeping or begging on the street are somehow involved in some kind of “scam.”
That’s gotta be the most labor and pain-intensive “scam” on earth.

@MBridegam I got a phone call about a year after I left from a young, very popular, very good nurse, who was male. The bully nurses had turned their ire on him (they looked for unaffiliated targets) and he wanted advice on how to file a complaint. /3
