But: no, I think we can fairly reasonably claim that, on the whole, the lives of common people did not improve under colonial rule.

But this assumes that the Aboriginals had similar concepts of wealth before European arrival. I doubt they had, and if they didn't, the beore and after comparison is a false one.

Achilles is dead and a shade in the Underworld during the events of the Odyssee. I don't think there's much point being a gifted warrior in Hades, and shades tend to be void of colour.
