@CowboyColonel@ImmaculateView Nope. If your FSU and Clemson you dont spend 2 years in court to get out of your conference to take a chance at having to go back to court for basically the same reason and no guarantees.
@muggywow@flugempire The NCAA as an employer to the athletes was a monopoly where there isnt option of choice for the compensated. And trying to build labor union to represent all NCAA athletes across the entries NCAA isnt feasible due to different needs of all NCAA schools.
@muggywow@flugempire Creates competition. The SEC, B1G, B12, and every other conference are their own corporate entity. Therefore, not the monoply the NCAA. The multiple entities is an attempt to circumnavigate anti-trust laws. And the conference can create labor representation specific to them.
@jontweetssports More like two 24-28 team conferences that cooperated.
Between B1G and SEC the two can legitimately field an entire post-season by themselves and include any teams that could claim a NC in most major sports.
@BYUGuy87 Why is everybody ignoring the 5 year independence things? There are no spots. Because no one is spending 5 years independent to join SEC or B1G.
@ralpha060461 Again 48 isn't the problem, it was how deep into North America they had to dig when the top 3 qualifiers for the region weren't part of qualifications. And thus, the teams competing for NA spots were already 4-8 deep for the region.
@md19815@SmugFecundity@MarkHalperin Curacao is because, while CONCAF got more allotment, 3 of the main countries got auto bids (for hosting), and so CONCAF had to go 'deeper' into the pool than normal.
@slmandel Arkansas beating Arkansas St. 47-3 on opening weekend. A program that isnt ever a NC contender that should beat who they play. But they actually look good winning in the process. They dominated a team they should and didnt struggle and acted like Bama/UGA do on opening weekend.
@clkmotsmlvlle Got remeber the west coast is 4 hours different from the east coast. The schedule seems to be built with that in mind. Brazil is much closer. But we start a lot of east coast games really late to accommodate the west coast. And huge bulk of US soccer fans are on the west.
@ADPatriots US never dominates a team they should dominate on paper. Its always a struggle trying not eek out a draw. So as easy it is to say Paraguay ain't good, feels like a different US team overall
@AmosMurphy_@UpwardBoss Each host country is having opening celebrations. They didnt want to those to overlap
The late US kick-off was to get the US in its natural prime time slot + opening festivities
@BuffalOKstate Good enough to not want to give somebody a 3-4 million dollar check for doing nothing. Problem for Tech is the money is spent. They need some ROI out of it.
@wkndupdater@cfosterrrr Its the opposite to the Oscar's
The Tony's are actually 1 big commercial to say 'come see our shows'. Its why it happens in June. Its a big showcase to attact tourists. Where as the Oscars are celebration of past experience, the Tony's are a big flashing sign to attract guests.
@thunderstribal Never understood the hate for Gabon. Is it odd? Yes, but its actually one of the few seasons I remeber halfway decently. And maybe thats because it Gabon and it kind a deserves it's own category.
