every single member of the working class is being oppressed by the threat of homelessness and as long as we concede that it’s possible to “deserve” to be homeless we allow that to continue ✨:)
Story for the @GuardianUS with more details of the man's death.
He has been identified as 33-year-old Denny Adán González from Cuba:

This article is frustrating and heartbreaking. The rules for this housing are so draconian that virtually everyone would break them eventually. No food, no visitors, no leaving, no swearing.
The "non-profits" admit that loneliness is a major problem but won't allow guests
“But as I look off the hotel rooftop at a blacked-out city, and realize that we could turn the lights on, if we wanted to, I feel such deep rage that the wealthiest country in the world would inflict this totally needless misery on its poor, tiny neighbor.”

@MorePerfectUS It’s a goddamn service. It shouldn’t run out of money because it’s normal for services to cost money. Fuckers can spend money on war and killing people but not on mail, healthcare, food. Nothing fucking good.
this whole country is anti-children and that’s a huge barrier to them being able to fix anything going on right now.
especially when they go to college with their big, GOOD ideas and the schools allow police and campus security to brutalize them when they protest.
The Prairieland trial was given almost zero media coverage because of the blatant lies by DHS and Police. This verdict now sets a precedent for criminalization of dissent across the board. Noise demos, Black-Bloc, pamphlets/zines/red cards, all of this can be used to imprison you
🧵 This was a sham trial from the start. Mark Pittman, a Trump-appointed judge who discussed his copy of Mein Kampf during trial, blocked the defense from arguing self defense or defense of others, favoring the prosecution at every turn.
for a moment, really try to imagine how much excruciating pain a person would have to go thru to die from a tooth infection & sepsis. picture it in your mind. feel it in your body. sit with it. sustain. let it burn your psyche. let it hurl you into action if you have a soul left.
Working with children is like oh they really are all universes and precious and developmentally fragile and we’re putting children in ice dungeons for years and blowing them up in Gaza
yes, you're right, we shouldn't listen to cubans in cuba - LATAM historians, the rest of the entire planet that understands that the US sanctions and embargo is unjustifiable and cruel! we should listen to cubans in miami who share the same opinion as the pedophilic trump admin!
This barbaric DHS murder is more typical in method than its street executions.
DHS dropped Nurul Shah Alam—an elderly, blind Burmese refugee who doesn't speak English—on a random street in dead of winter. No family notification. Left to die of exposure. https://t.co/R81iYFLbuZ
@abby4thepeople Something I've really come around on: There is no amount of additional comfort an already-comfortable person should gain that is more worthwhile than providing said comfort to someone who has none.
Man idk about y’all but the most disturbing thing I have ever seen on public transit was a guy kick a homeless old man full force in the chest for the crime of uhh bumping into his girlfriend. I would call that a lot more antisocial than noises or smells
i work with homeless new yorkers as a social worker and encampment sweeps can be devastating for our clients. people’s birth certificates, social security cards, etc get thrown away. when it’s time to apply for jobs, we spend hours tracking down these documents for clients.
might have been a mistake for silicon valley to roll out their products with the sales pitch "it's over for [your way of making a living/deriving joy and meaning from existence]: say hello to our amazing human obsolescence machine! it only requires all of the water in the world!"
