23 looks good on WordPress. 🎂
Since May 27, 2003, WordPress has been blogging, building, publishing, shipping, translating, theming, plugin-ing, and making the web a little more wonderfully weird.
Happy birthday, WordPress. 💙
Imagine if WordPress was built purely for writers.
That was the question behind my Write plugin, and I’m incredibly proud to see it forked, improved, and now made available for @wordpressdotcom users.
One of my favourite @automattic Radical Speed Month projects, now live in beta and available to test.
A clean page. A blinking cursor. The formatting you need, and nothing you don’t.
We’d love you to take it for a spin and let us know what you think 👇

Color swatches coming to Woo core.
(I may be biased but I think the Woo team has been killing Radical Speed Month by hitting so many good, long-standing feature requests).

So, here it is:
WordPress 7.0 “Armstrong” is here. 🎷
This major release introduces foundational AI tools, a refreshed admin experience, expanded design controls, new blocks, and powerful developer APIs.

Making the canvas and agent experience one and the same. Allowing to drag items from canvas into a conversation, or generate something in the chat and drag it into the canvas.
WordPress 7.0 will be out next week, and it includes a built-in AI client SDK!

@lennysan@exiao3 I wonder what the relevance of design is in our new reality? There is a lot of talk about PMs pushing code but not as much conversations about the design role in it. Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts.
Just pushed a set of improvements and tweaks to this PR for changing how navigation/menus operate. Check it out, would love to hear more feedback from real merchants and developers who work with @WooCommerce .
🚀 Introducing Pressmind: an experimental @WordPress Gutenberg plugin turns prompts into real interactive blocks! ✨
Type /pressmind, describe what you want, and it can generate summaries, tables, SVGs, interactive widgets (even games 👾), and AI images.

Objects can be connected, so you can build various flows by grouping elements. Notes would reference connected materials and you can engage an agent with the relevant context.
Week 2 of @automattic#RadicalSpeedMonth is underway and I'm bringing podcast tools to @wordpressdotcom.
Here's a quick demo of progress so far. The goal is to make it as easy to start a podcast as a blog and newsletter, while keeping ownership of your data.
Just shared https://t.co/mOBcwf2gio as a resource for distributed companies: 700+ places @automattic teams have stayed during meetups around the world.
WordCamp Europe 2026 has published its development session lineup for June 5–6 in Kraków. Topics include a panel on WordPress 7.0, the Abilities API, Block Bindings, headless API security, Full Site Editing, and WordPress Playground. https://t.co/2599xRxBsW
This was just merged into Gutenberg trunk, and it’s a much bigger deal than it looks 👇
WordPress is getting a native UI to create custom post types.
No code. No plugins.
Just:
Settings → Post Types → Add
That might sound small… it’s not.
Custom post types go from “developer feature” → “everyday user feature”
Which means:
• Better structured content from day one
• Easier onboarding
• Less plugin dependency
• A cleaner foundation for AI to understand your site
And this is just the start.
Post types → taxonomies → …you can probably guess what comes next
You can see where this is heading…
WordPress is becoming a powerful content modelling system 👀
