@TfL A huge thank you to the driver of the the 16:12 @ Hayes & Harlington Elizabeth Line to Abbey Wood for tooting the horn and waving to our six year old. You made her day!

@TfL outrageous service towards a wheelchair user and her family by a route 90 driver outside Hayes and Harlington. Acknowledged them but then refused to put the ramp down before driving off leaving me stranded with my children.
@prpofollad @jobbinggasman As a neuro SLT who has worked on ICU, that individual was likely talking about a swallow screen with a cup of water. Nurses and doctors can complete this (and routinely do) and then refer to us in the event of issues arising.
Hey @TfL , a cabbie called Elizabeth, badge 52653, flat out rescued me today. A man grabbed me from behind, broad daylight, swung me round, was truly threatening, I had no idea what to do. Elizabeth drives up out of nowhere, told me to get in, and drove me the hell away.
@GWRHelp Three years later and she still loves train adventures with Daddy! Thank you to the crew/driver on the 9:31am today from Paddington to Carmarthen for her first journey on a Class 800 train 🚆
Are you interested in the work of SLTs? 🗣️Are you considering training to become an SLT? 🧠We have a rotational vacancy SLTA opportunity: https://t.co/3oi2GUVhTO
Here is Rachel, our fabulous SLTA supporting swallowing awareness day 🙌 by putting together resources, quizzes & 📌 the epiglottis on Otis! Our SLTA assistants are crucial in supporting the SLT’s role in managing swallowing disorders.#NHWeek#SwallowAware2024
I hope folk saw what Michael J Fox did there #BAFTAs . He entered stage in a wheelchair, walked to podium where he stood to present an award, then left stage in wheelchair. Hopefully silencing anyone who thinks those who stand or walk whilst using a wheelchair are “at it”.
Community is the largest care setting.
Where people spend most of the illness.
Cared for between visits to ER, Hospital & clinics.
By a mix of trained & untrained people.
It deserves real estate in healthcare curriculum.
Why do we settle for ‘half training’?

@RCSLT@RCSLTLearn Do any adult community SLT therapists have an example “tick list” discharge report proforma they are willing to share please? Thanks! #SLT#slpeeps#speechies
@OxoSLT Referrer: “Patient is coughing with breakfast only, never the other meals”
Me: “Do you have to keep rousing them throughout breakfast?”
Referrer: “Wait. They need to be awake to eat?!”😩
There is nothing more British than doing “the big shop” on a coronation bank holiday weekend, with your four year old wearing her special dress to be like “Princess Katherine” 👑 👸 @KensingtonRoyal@sainsburys
@callum_a2 @xoRosiex Absolutely. Just like I was told by IC that my crutch was an infection risk and asked if I could “leave it outside the sideroom”. I’m a Disabled AHP and had to explain that I can’t turn my spina bifida off to avoid germs.
Remember it is not necessarily the aspirate that is the problem it is the frailty, and general@medical condition of the patient. In older adults the term Frailty Associated Pneumonia is more appropriate #Dysphagia
