On behalf of the Peel Regional Police family, I extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Ontario Provincial Police Constable Tarun Bali.
Our thoughts are with all members of the Ontario Provincial Police during this incredibly difficult time. We honour Constable Bali’s sacrifice, and commitment to protecting those he served. #HeroesInLife
Every night, @PeelPolice officers make a difference in our community. Last night was no different. This illegal firearm which included an extended magazine and fully automatic switch was seized by our STEP team after a foot pursuit. The STEP team is a specialized unit focused on combating violent crime by targeting illegal firearms, street gangs, and high-risk criminal activity.
This work would not be possible without the support of @TeamKerzner and @ONsafety.
Thanks to our STEP team and all of our officers for keeping illegal firearms out of the hands of violent criminals and making our community a safer place for all.
Losing an hour shouldn’t cost you your safety. ⏲️☀️
Spring forward = slower reactions.
Darker mornings + lost sleep can trigger microsleep - those split second nod offs that cause crashes.
Drive safe: rest up, leave early, pull over if you’re drowsy.
Using technology to keep our communities safer. 📞
@PeelPolice’s Community Service Operations Centre (CSOC) delivers real time info to frontline officers when it matters most. This helps make faster and more informed decisions that could save lives and de-escalate situations sooner.

The #CityOfTO and @CupeLocal79 have reached a tentative four-year agreement. Local 79 represents the City’s 27,000 inside workers.
The agreement reflects the important work of City employees like personal support workers and nurses who care for vulnerable seniors, child care workers who work with the city’s youngest residents and recreation workers who provide invaluable programming to thousands of residents.
Details of the tentative agreement will remain confidential until the union membership and Toronto City Council have had the opportunity to review and ratify the terms. Mayor Olivia Chow and City Manager Paul Johnson will provide an update live at 1:45 a.m.

Toronto Fire Services has been in contact with @MississaugaFES and @TorontoPearson regarding the incident at the airport. At this time, TFS has not been requested to provide support. Our thoughts are with all those affected and the emergency responders managing this situation.
Heads Up Toronto! 📣
It’s going to be a very busy weekend on the Toronto Island, so expect longer wait times.
If you're thinking of visiting, consider traveling back to the city before 4 p.m., using a water taxi, or choosing another day to visit.

“I am grateful to have housing after being homeless for so many years.” When he was in his fifties, John lost both of his parents. From then on, he struggled to find a permanent home. On #MyHomeMonday, this is John’s story.
After moving from place to place, briefly living with his brother and his girlfriend, John ended up on the street. “I spent some time outside at Union Station where Streets to Homes staff approached me and asked if I need water, a blanket and snacks.”
It was through his interactions with these street outreach teams that John was referred to a #CityOfTO shelter. Once there, he got the stability he needed. He also started working with Jennifer – a counsellor who helped him find a place to call home.
From the street outreach workers to staff at the shelter, there were many hands along the way to lift John out of homelessness. Grateful for all the support he received, John says, “I thank everyone who helped me to obtain housing.”
In 2023, more than 5,900 people experiencing homelessness moved from the shelter system into permanent #housing. Congratulations on your new home, John! We wish you all the best! 💙
