The Bible is truthful. The Quran lies.

The Quran lied to me about how good Gods grace really is. The Bible never hid it.

Islam holds the prophets sinless (isma). So the Quran systematically smooths their failures:

Aaron didn’t make the calf (Surah 20:90). Absent.

Abraham’s lies about Sarah being his sister? Absent.

David and Bathsheba, adultery and arranged murder? Absent. David is only a righteous king. 

Solomon’s idolatry? Recast; he’s a repentant, righteous prophet.

The Bible refuses to whitewash anything. That makes me believe it WAY more.

David commits adultery, then has Uriah killed to cover it. 2 Samuel 11. Confronted, he collapses in repentance: “Against You, You only, have I sinned.” Psalm 51:4. 

Abraham lies twice out of fear. Genesis 12, 20. Solomon’s heart turns to idols. 1 Kings 11:4.

So now we have two different narratives, and here’s the conclusion I came to:

A book inventing heroes makes them clean. A book telling the truth records their worst, and shows God working through broken people anyway.

That’s the whole gospel, by the way. God saves sinners, not the sinless. “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.” 1 Timothy 1:15.

The Bible’s honesty about its heroes is the honesty of a real record. And it’s good news for me, because if God only used the sinless, there’d be no hope for any of us.
