If there was a city council meeting at which rightwingers said anything remotely as evil, stupid, wrong, and indefensible as this every single major media outlet would run it constantly and every Republican politician would be asked to condemn it. Even if you think I’m wrong, most conservatives agree will agree with me in whole or in part. Refusal to condemn this sort of garbage is a poison pill for the center left.
2024, 3rd party, Trump, Biden…@AndrewYang and I talk about it all. See you this Monday on The Hopeful Majority…it’s time to fight outrage and build nuance!

UC Berkeley can't build 1000+ units of desperately needed housing for students because the project keeps getting blocked by neighbors who are suing under the "human noise is environmental pollution" precedent under the CA Environmental Quality Act 🤯🤯🤯
Yes--some small set of neighbors, who literally live adjacent to a huge campus full of students everywhere and have higher property values because of the university, don't want more housing because students can be loud.
Too often these anti-housing efforts are attacks on young people and it is young people who are shouldering a larger and larger burden of the housing shortage.
These laws have to change and we will change them.
🧵Bringing back downtown San Francisco isn’t rocket science. We need the will to:
✅ Transform the financial district into a mixed use neighborhood. It never made sense for it to be just office. It should be office, housing, nightlife, restaurants, markets, entertainment, etc

Utah and Colorado compete over a lot of things – who has the better mountains, the better skiing, the better economy, etc. I think it’s Utah, and @GovofCO thinks it's Colorado. But one thing we agree on, is that Americans need to learn how to #DisagreeBetter and that healthy conflict results in better policy. This year as chair and vice chair of @NatlGovsAssoc, we’re setting out to do just that. We hope you’ll join us!
increasingly convinced that the index of consumer sentiment has become contaminated by partisanship and is not a useful measure of consumer psychology anymore (“not useful” in that it is a very weak predictor of aggregate spending and saving behavior)
It has been nearly three weeks since the initial ground combat phase of the Ukrainian 2023 offensives commenced. What is the state of the campaign? 1/25 🧵

The Hopeful Majority podcast launches Monday!
You know me…I never intended to go online, but here we go. There’s 5M podcasts out there 😅… this one will be worth it. Every week, we’re going to elevate the majority of Americans who want to be open-minded, have productive disagreements, and solve problems. It will take time, but we’ll get there.

“Just because someone disagrees with you, it doesn’t make them bad or evil. We are more the same than we are different.”
Great closing by James Corden on his last night. 👏
