@mhclg Disappointing that making homes ‘safe and secure’ is last on the list. 5 years of zero progress on remediation, with unsafe, valueless homes and increasing leasehold costs. This is a huge failure of public policy with wider social impact. Time to fix! @EOCS_Official@JamesAsser
I've spent 8 yrs post Grenfell listening to politicians tell me how much they care and how 'we can never let it happen again'. So why are so many buildings still covered in dangerous cladding? It is a national disgrace. So many people trapped and repeatedly robbed through charges
❌ There is nothing on non-cladding defects, nothing for non-qualifying leaseholders, nothing for leaseholders in buildings under 11m, nothing for shared owners, nothing on extortionate buildings insurance, and nothing on the useless waking watch in this plan.
Are you still trapped in an unsafe and / or unsellable home?

40 desperate flat owners produce videos urging @Barrattplc to remove all banned combustible material off their buildings including the fire escape stairs and give them an EWS1 A1 rating to prevent permanently high insurance and unsellable flats.

@BarrattHomes - Do the right thing by your customers! It's time you listened to your 1000 angry customers at Royal Artillery Quays who you have put our lives at risk for 22 years with an unlawful and dangerous external cladding system and now condemming us to permanently high insurance with your remediation plan. We won't go away. We will continue to stand up for our families, children and elderly.

The shocking risks of Post #Grenfell Remediations that result in a EWS1 B1 rating where combustible material remains on the building.
Unless flats are safe, insurable and sellable, the remediation is not complete and the detriment continues.

#EndOurCladdingScandal #BuildingSafetyCrisis
BREAKING - @Barrattplc claim government department @mhclg responsible for building safety, support their plan to leave combustible XPS panels on 16 storey fire stairs without any fire performance test evidence stating they are safe to leave on. The material is banned on new buildings.
This goes against the advice of the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) who advise "a firefighting shaft should be constructed fully of non-combustible materials".
If @BarrattHomes are correct and indeed have the support of the government department that's responsible for building safety for this appalling remediation plan, then I have some questions:
1) Has the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government learnt nothing from the horrors of #Grenfell? Why are they ignoring the fire chiefs and supporting leaving combustible material on 16 storey fire stairs without any fire performance test evidence when the material is banned on new buildings?
2) Why are they giving their view now when the Building Safety Regulator, who are actively reviewing this remediation plan, are yet to conclude their view?
3) Is @Barrattplc getting special treatment from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government as the government's new master builder by doing 'special remediation reviews' at the request of a builder and concluding in the Barratt's favour?
4) Why are @mhclg ignoring residents concerns after the Grenfell’s Inquiry’s conclusion that the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government “…displayed a complacent and at times defensive attitude to matters affecting fire safety.” ?
Post Grenfell and after 4 recent serious fires, isn't it time for the advice of the @NFCC_FireChiefs to be taken into account by @mhclg?

"Flat prices have underperformed all other property types in the UK over the past five years as the shift to flexible working, landlords exiting the market and concerns about cladding hit the segment."
❗3 million people are stuck in flats they can't sell

How’s this going to work for those trapped in unsellable homes @AngelaRayner?
We already have fire safety bills, legal bills, increased insurance, increased mortgages…
Why would you look to punish us further?
Philip Chapman has been trying for years to get his property developer to fix the safety issues in his building, after it was found to be unsafe according to government guidelines.
After the fire in Dagenham, he fears something similar could happen to his home.
🗨️ "The government encouraged me to get on the property ladder and actually helped me to do so. Now it's turning its back on me and many in the same position."
❗Leaseholders didn't cause the #BuildingSafetyCrisis, they should not have to pay to fix it.

1000s of buildings are still considered to be unsafe with cladding or missing fire breaks, @AngelaRayner. It is now your responsibility to fix this. What will change under @UKLabour? #EndOurCladdingScandal
🔴 Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by the fire in Dagenham this morning.
The number one priority is that all affected residents are safe and well and get the support and answers they need.
Action to make our homes safe remains urgent - and the pace must accelerate.
@Margaret4DR@LondonFire There are 1,000 other blocks just in London with known safety defects. The next fire might be much more devastating. @Barrattplc still haven't started work on my block, 3 years after critical defects were found. @AngelaRayner and @mtpennycook must act now to prevent future fires.
This is the case I was discussing on BBC Breakfast and BBC Radio 4 earlier today.

Residents in my development face a large legal fee, because a commercial unit breached their lease. We get no financial benefit from this commercial unit, but hardworking families bare the cost of evicting them. End this leasehold madness!
