First week done. Very strange with everything being online, but definitely a huge learning opportunity. Looking forward to more progression. But first, cutting Dry Jan a few days short! Happy Friday 😊

@MissT_Geog Yes, thank you! Successful first day, nerves are settled x

My lovely planner just arrived in the post and suddenly it feels real @TPositiveTC. 5 days to go and I’m beginning to feel nervous!

In an overly polarized political world, schools should try hard to give all citizens experiences of the benefits of imagining multiple perspespectives. #single_perspective_instinct #factfulness

Just finished #Factfulness @OlaRosling @HansRosling — looking forward to challenging my students’ misconceptions and using the techniques highlighted in the book to make my teaching more transparent and factual!

Trying a little experiment to support #teaching the importance of #soil and vegetation in reducing the risk of #flooding it worked... #geographyteacher #geography #geographyathome #hometasking20

@SusannaMFL @TeachFirstNW I love this idea! Looks like I’ll be badge hunting this afternoon :)

I saw this for our wonderful #NHS staff. For my teaching colleagues, this is really important too! Make sure you follow the #GoingHomeChecklist after a busy day, doing the best job in the world. #teacherlife #education #edutwitter #educhat

@Susie_geography Thanks!

Any suggestions for readings/activities I can do in preparation for my PGCE in Secondary Geography would be greatly appreciated.

For background, my degree was in human geog, so anything physical-related would be especially great.

Making the most of this down time!

Fascinating exploration of the key role of geography by Tim Marshall @Itwitius. I love how simply changing the orientation of a map can change your perspective of place. In this case, how China's coast can be seen as 'hemmed in' by islands sympathetic to the west.

Maps, distortion, Eurocentrism and racism...

A snippet of a video I keep seeing on my Facebook feed. Should geography be taught using the Peters map?
