@susharoy's super cool job market paper studies the interaction between school choice policies and neighborhood segregation. She's a great researcher, teacher, and colleague. Whoever hires her is going to be real lucky!
Two Saturdays ago I wrote about a nightmare my nephew and his wife are experiencing. Boston DCF (Dept of Children & Families) took their babies (age 3 months and 3.5 years) in the middle of the night. With no warrant. Here's the whole story written up by the mother.

@MemeMedianMode They should have shown what the previous best picture of this looked like. Took Hubble weeks to get that’s top pic. New pic only took 12.5 hours and looks way better.
It’s not just Roe, y’all. It never was. It’s Loving & Obergefell (marriage equality), Lawrence (intimacy), Griswold (contraception), Meyer & Pierce (education and upbringing). It’s all of substantive due process.
It’s also Brown. It’s also equal protection. On every dimension.

HELLO.
I’m in @BW today on something I think needs a TON more attention: the work-permit cliff.
Since 2020 USCIS has gotten MUCH WORSE at renewing work permits. As a result people are ROUTINELY losing their income, drivers’ licenses, jobs.

Just an insane decision. And note that this lawsuit is being brought under the California Environmental Quality Act, though everyone, on all sides, knows the issues here aren't environmental.
So please, stop telling me how CEQA has already been fixed.

So my wife renewed her DACA again. Two more years, until 2024! It got me thinking about how there is a not-insignificant population of young immigrants who will have lived with DACA for an entire decade this year, including my wife. Ten years lived in two year intervals.
@MemeMedianMode This hasn't happened to us, but I think that some kids just don't like to nap and there's not much you can do about it. If Sid is really tired, you could maybe try to drive him around in the car for 30 minutes to see if he'll fall asleep and then transfer to crib.
