Celebrate the Stars and Stripes on America’s public lands. 🇺🇸
Sunday, June 14 is Flag Day and a patriotic fee-free day across America’s public lands.
U.S. residents can enjoy free entry and experience the beauty, history, and freedom that define our nation.
One of the easiest ways to stand out in 2026 is to read.
The gap between readers and non-readers will be the most important divide of the next decade.
While everyone worries about AI, 54% of adults can't read beyond a 6th-grade level.
That's why we started an online book club to study the greatest texts of Western Civilization. Every month, we study a new great work — so far we've covered Augustine's Confessions, Dante's Inferno, The Count of Monte Cristo, Don Quixote, etc.
Currently, we're reading Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics.
Western Civilization has given us the greatest books ever written, but it takes effort to read them, and even more to read them well. That’s what we’re doing here, slowly, together.
If you want to support our efforts, please consider a paid subscription. It makes a huge difference to the time and resources we can dedicate to this project. Paid members get:
- Live book club discussions (biweekly)
- Access to our incredible community chat
- Essays to guide you through the Great Books
- All past recordings, essays, and podcasts
- Ability to vote on what we read next...

Welcome!
On June 6, 1944, a 56-year-old general with a secret walked onto Utah Beach under fire, armed with a cane and a pistol.
The secret: his heart was failing. He had hidden it from the army doctors so they wouldn't pull him from the mission.
His name was Theodore Roosevelt Jr. Son of the President. He had begged three separate times to lead the first wave ashore at Normandy before his commanders finally said yes.
When his landing craft drifted 2,000 yards off course, every instinct said redirect the following waves to the correct zone. Instead, Roosevelt walked the beach himself, alone, under artillery fire, cane in hand, reading the terrain.
His verdict: "We'll start the war from right here."
He then stood on that beach and personally greeted every regiment that landed after him, pointing them inland, cracking jokes under shellfire, steadying 18-year-olds who had never seen combat. He did this for hours.
Years later, Omar Bradley was asked to name the single most heroic act he had ever witnessed in combat.
His answer, without hesitation: "Ted Roosevelt on Utah Beach."
Roosevelt's son, Captain Quentin Roosevelt II, also landed at Normandy that same morning. He was named after his uncle, Quentin Roosevelt, who had been shot down as a fighter pilot over France in World War I.
Three generations. Three wars. One family.
Theodore Roosevelt Jr. died in his sleep 36 days later. Heart attack. The thing he had been hiding finally won. He never learned he had been awarded the Medal of Honor.
He was buried at the Normandy American Cemetery.
In 1955, his family had his brother Quentin, killed in WWI, exhumed from where he fell in France and reinterred right beside him. Quentin is the only World War I soldier buried there.
Two brothers. Two world wars. The same French soil.
Their father had once said: "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."
Both of his sons did exactly that.
Clearing up some actual misinformation:
The New World Screwworm does not pose a threat to raw or cooked meat, and consumers should not worry about purchasing meat throughout this crisis
The threat is to LIVE warm blooded animals, also including wildlife, pets and humans

Eighty-two years ago today, freedom stood on the edge of extinction, and Allied forces stormed into hell to help save the world.
We will never forget the courage, the sacrifice, and the blood spilled on that fateful day.
One month from today.
On July 4, 2026 — America's 250th birthday — the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library
opens its doors for the first time. The first new presidential library in over a decade, in
the same Badlands landscape that changed the man it's named for.
Opening day itself is sold out. But here's the good news: this isn't a one-day event. The
Library is open all summer, all fall, right through the end of the year — and tickets for
those dates are available right now.
So if you've been waiting for a sign to plan the trip, this is it. Pick your weekend. Tell
the people you'd want beside you when you walk out onto that boardwalk for the first time.
And get your tickets before your favorite dates fill in.

There is no scandal in cleaning up monuments and fountains in our nation’s capital. The real scandal is letting them fall into disrepair in the first place.
Thanks to @POTUS, those days are over. We’re Making D.C Safe and Beautiful for everyone.
The installation features red, white, and blue illumination and a massive American flag measuring 300 feet wide by 150 feet tall suspended across the dam.
The special light display will illuminate Hoover Dam nightly through Saturday, July 4.
Delivering history all summer!

If that addict on your street were your own son, what would you do? That is the defining question that guides my 5 step plan to fix the homelessness problem in LA. We *must* end this evil racket of corrupt politicians and NGOs who profit off the misery of these poor souls. They launder money and feed them more drugs, so they can keep their customers locked in this hell on our streets. We have a moral obligation from God to help them and make our city safe and clean for everyone. Karen Bass and Nithya Raman have forsaken this city. Time for real leadership. Time for real compassion.
May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month, a time to recognize the growing impact of Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses on American families and communities. Lyme disease now affects an estimated 476,000 Americans each year and remains one of the most common vector-borne diseases in the United States.
I recently wrote to the House Energy & Commerce Committee urging support for reauthorization of the Kay Hagan Tick Act to strengthen research, surveillance, early detection, treatment, and public awareness efforts related to tick-borne disease.
Thank you to Chairman @RepGuthrie, Ranking Member @FrankPallone, and the House Energy & Commerce Committee for advancing this important bipartisan legislation.
