Significant that countries where the study took place didn’t have population screening programs so likely less awareness potentially leading to much lower uptake of screenings. So question should be, how to get more people to participate. Among others.
Article in @NEJM on colorectal cancer and death rates raises questions about colonoscopy as screening tool but has awful news reporting that could discourage people from being screened who might need it. https://t.co/12lbPqlfiU
The @business@immy_jn headline implies colonoscopy is worthless whereas it reduced risk (if everyone had actually had a colonoscopy) of cancer by 31% and death by 50%. This is difference of looking at effectiveness of a population health intervention versus individual benefit.
Today is the 10 year anniversary of my marriage to the most amazing husband I could ever imagine. We will fight for our rights and the right of all queer people to live out their fullest, most beautiful lives.
I’m in tears this morning at the news the Patriot Front (the “very fine people” who murdered in Charlottesville in 2017) planned to attack and riot at Coeur d’Alene gay pride. We queers are under renewed attack as our marriages and lives are threatened. https://t.co/7BKvNByxOW
It’s time for the big city queers to cancel your plans for SF/NYC pride and start going to small town Pride events. We have to stand together in love and unity to survive this onslaught.
Shade queen Pope Francis at the mic: “Even in the College of Cardinals,” Francis said, “there are some anti-vaxxers, and one of them, poor man, is in hospital with the virus. But life is ironic.” https://t.co/IGAhCFFvO2
The Biden War on Terror -- which, as he admits, is dictated by the US security state -- is not targeted at right-wing groups or left-wing groups but both: namely, anyone who works against the establishment and ruling class status quo. If you cheer it, that's what you'll get:
Dr Tedros head of @WHO on lack of vaccine technology sharing: “It’s a mixed feeling: surprised, not surprised. Social responsibility is just something you would expect from a decent human being when the whole world is burning.” Amen. https://t.co/eyAcVI61YB
#covid-19 has made clear the need for US to invest much more to boost domestic and global capacity to #pandemicproof the world. But @potus budget has only $250m to launch a new global fund for #pandemic#preparedness. Why so little? 2/
To prevent future pandemics, we must address the environmental degradation that drives zoonotic outbreaks and include the voices of impacted communities and health workers in planning @_emilybass_ and I argue @ForeignPolicy https://t.co/wH6Fm2Ojvl
