@deepfates Currently using GitHub for code, Obsidian Sync for markdown, iCloud for everything else. Mackup is theoretically interesting for keeping dotfiles in sync, but it kinda broke my mental model so I stopped using it.
What if, in the end, AI has about as much impact as the Internet? Or maybe the Internet plus the smartphone combined?
Like it'll be a big deal, but all the hand-wringing about doom and job replacement never comes. That kinda seems like the most likely scenario to me.
@ronrule@libobral that also makes it easier to support rural areas (and leaves more area to remain rural!). People who really want detached houses and big lots can still have that, but more realistic costs would push people toward denser areas.
@ronrule@libobral I think you're both half-right and you both get what you want if you form a coalition against subsidizing suburban sprawl. The US generally doesn't operate on a "pay for what you use" system. Everyone should have basic utilities. If we make dense urban areas easier to build...

You know what's weird? Even though I know how websites work, I still conceptualize them as something that exists out on the internet that I go look at. Like it's a billboard or a page in a book, not something that I download and render in real time on each visit.

Datacenters run on a closed loop cooling system, the water usage of a datacenter for an entire year is roughly equivalent to a usage of 1 restaurant!
