Everyone knows you can't build a rocket without @McMasterCarr. But can you build a rocket from *only* the McMaster catalog?

What I find most notable about this chart is that at its peak the US nuclear buildout was actually faster than the current Chinese one. If we could do that 50+ years ago we should be able to do much better today.
I think this take on higher ed is very wrong. We do not want a "university of the gaps," where we teach whatever AI currently can't do. Instead, we should have a weight room mentality. Sure machines can lift heavier than I can, but I will only improve if I do the work myself.
“Health care should be a right not a privilege” is a totally reasonable statement of moral values, but I would like you to be able to have a conversation with me that suggests awareness that capacity constraints will exist regardless of how health care finance is organized.
It's Jones Act repeal day! It's awful and should go. Trump has waived it twice now, which is good, but repeal would be better than repeated waivers with unclear functional duration. Will it be waived again? Who knows?
It’s Jones Act repeal day. Let’s not fight, let’s discuss why the Jones Act has not led to growth of the US ship-building industry, but probably has raised prices.
Our highest and most urgent national priority should be AI safeguards. The risks of AI weapons, pathogens, mass unemployment, surveillance, and even extinction must not continue to be largely ignored.
Recent discourse has made me curious.
How many people oppose abortion for severe disabilities like trisomy 21 but support embryonic gene editing for them?
How many support abortion for severe disabilities but oppose embryonic gene editing?
Gotta be some, yeah?
If anyone from the AI safety community or the EA community posted this image in response to warnings about AI, I fully expect they’d be (rightly) banned from future events. In reality, this was posted by a sockpuppet run by a super PAC funded by a16z & OpenAI’s Greg Brockman
@SoundDobad I know this may sound petty, but I can’t stand it when people put photoshop a meth pipe in my mouth. A crack pipe doesn’t have that little bowl at the end. This is why we can’t trust AI. Please make the appropriate edit. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
In case it isn't obvious, this is a slam dunk obviousness necessary (although insufficient) step that should have ~100% support and we need to just do it already.
