“This fall, a 27-year-old Black gay man named Elijah Manley is the best-funded challenger to 20-year veteran Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Florida, who is facing the political fight of her life to remain in Congress.”
I’m excited to be featured in this USA Today piece alongside Black LGBTQ+ leaders like @ShevrinJones and @MondaireJones. I’m excited that a record number of black gay men could serve in Congress come next year.
A status bill that includes colonialism as an option is not decolonization.
@RepAOC & I oppose the Resident Commissioner's legislation & will keep fighting for real self-determination for Puerto Rico.
Puerto Rico's colonial status is a stain on our history. It must end.
Black Americans are more than twice as likely to take out payday loans, and payday lenders have spent years marketing in Black communities.
Those same lenders have funneled more than $50,000 to Debbie Wasserman Schultz. So when the Obama administration and Elizabeth Warren moved to crack down on the industry, she lead the fight against stronger regulations.

Experience is not a permission slip to disregard a community’s voice. Seniority is not a substitute for lived experience. Washington clout does not give anyone the right to treat FL-20 like a fallback option.
First, she said the CBC encouraged her to run. The CBC Chair said they did not.
Then she went on tv and said that Leader Jeffries was supporting her. Jeffries just declined to endorse her.
It is not a good day to be named Debbie Wasserman Schultz in Florida’s 20th District.
"A poll conducted for Democrat Elijah Manley’s campaign found 81% of likely Primary voters feel it is “extremely” or “very” important that the district is represented by a Black member of Congress. That includes 93% of Black voters, but also 68% of Hispanic voters and 64% of White voters."
#TN09 Congressman Steve Cohen hand in hand with John Lewis at an event in Mississippi in 2008
Its not about the race of the member of Congress, its about the candidate of choice of the racial minority. The Black voters of Memphis elected Cohen to be their Congressman
Latest issue 🚨
Debbie Wasserman Schultz had been indicating she wants to run in the plurality-Black #FL20. I break down why she should NOT make such a move.
She needs to show solidarity with the Black community and run in the #FL22 instead #flapol

This map is blatantly unconstitutional. Many assume the Florida Supreme Court is so corrupt it will completely ignore the Fair District Amendments.
I don’t know what’s more shocking about this moment in our history: the map or the potential corruption itself.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz's #FL25 has been dismantled in the new Congressional map
Her base, however, is in the new #FL22, which backed Trump by 10% but also backed Biden by 2%. 45% of this seat is based in Broward - with 27% coming from her Weston/Davie/Sunrise base #flapol
trump and republicans will do whatever it takes to rig November's election. None of this should be surprising.
Dems across the country should act accordingly.
The four Dems most imperiled by this proposal:
#FL09 Darren Soto (D)
#FL14 Kathy Castor (D)
#FL23 Jared Moskowitz (D)
#FL25 Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D)
The riskiest play? Targeting Castor, b/c surrounding Tampa Bay GOP seats would be absorbing many of her Dem voters.
