A $7 Billion Project — But No Public Record of Who Runs It?

It’s alarming that Reko Diq Mining Company (RDMC) — developer of Pakistan’s largest copper-gold mine, with a first-phase cost of nearly $7 billion — has no official website, and no public disclosure of who sits on its Board of Directors, who its Chairman or CEO is, or how decisions are made as it approaches financial close.

This isn’t a private backyard venture.
It’s a 50–50 joint enterprise between Barrick Gold and the Government of Pakistan — through OGDC, PPL, GHPL, and the Government of Balochistan.

When half the ownership — and billions in equity and debt — are public, governance transparency is not optional. It’s a public right.

Citizens and investors deserve to know:

Who governs and signs off major decisions?

What checks exist on spending and oversight?

How are public stakes being safeguarded?

Incorporation as a private company does not exempt RDMC from accountability.
For a project hailed as “transformational”, such opacity risks eroding confidence — not just in Reko Diq, but in Pakistan’s broader resource-development promise.

Transparency builds trust. Silence breeds suspicion.
