I feel it deeply that in the next five years, these thieves hiding behind the word CONservancy will be packing their bags and heading back to their countries
It is not okay for one family or one foreign company to own hundreds of acres of native land in the name of wildlife protection
It is not okay that around these CONservancies, the roads remain deliberately underdeveloped so that locals stay locked out of progress, all to give tourists an off-road adventure
It is not okay to block wildlife migration routes just so rich visitors can pay more for exclusive views And it is absolutely not okay to shoot or harass locals for trespassing when in reality, it is their ancestral land, the same land their grandparents grazed on, fetched water from, and buried their loved ones in
Kenya is marketed as a top tourist destination but if you look closely, the way natives are treated around some of these CONservancies is nothing short of evil .Locals are displaced, silenced, and fenced out while the so-called conservationists cash in, backed by foreign donors, private security, and government protection
In Laikipia, Samburu, and parts of Isiolo, countless families have been evicted under the excuse of wildlife protection Yet many of these CONservancies are privately owned, registered as NGOs or trusts, but function like colonial estates guarded, restricted, and profitable to everyone except the actual owners of the land
These people came claiming to protect wildlife but what they really protected were their investments Meanwhile, the original communities continue to live without water, without roads, and without a say
Fortunately, Kenyans are no longer blind
People are reading, researching, and realizing how deep this scam runs The same old colonial structure dressed up as conservation and it is finally being called out
So yes, the clock is ticking
The era of foreign families owning thousands of acres in the name of conservation is ending
Because conservation cannot mean exclusion
And it cannot mean oppression!!!!
This land belongs to its people, not to those who fenced it, photographed it, and sold it back to us as tourism!!
The apex of parenting is when I join a webinar on telling stories of violence against women in Africa and my daughter is a participant with no invitation from me. The future is in good hands! 🙏🙏

The UK Visa Application Centre (VFS Global) in Westlands, Nairobi, is a masterclass in modern day exploitation.
Kenyans pay hundreds of dollars, wait in the sun, get misinformed, and walk away feeling less human. The new venue at Principal Place (yes, they left 9West) has no proper waiting area and no parking. This is by design to have you pay 17K for their VIP/Premium “services “
If you’re not paying for premium services, you’re left outside in the heat, on the pavement. Elderly people, parents with kids, students, all treated like a security threat
Their Communication is Trash. You get vague emails like “your passport is ready for collection ” only to be turned away and told “collection is from 2pm to 5pm, (you can easily indicate that on the same damn email) That means if you show up at 10am, you’ll have to wait till 2pm or you can easily pay the 17K to be attended to quickly.. ?? EXPLOITATION
No clear timeline. No courtesy. You’re meant to guess your way through it.
These centers aren’t run by embassies, they’re outsourced to private companies who monetize your desperation. It’s a business, not a service.
And guess what? No refund if your visa is denied(familiar?)
The worst part? This is normalized.
We’ve accepted that applying for a visa means surrendering your dignity just to maybe be allowed into a country that benefits from our labor, money, and talent.
If Global North countries want to charge Africans these high fees and accord them zero dignity , the bare minimum should be basic human respect. Decent waiting areas. Transparent timelines and Fair communication.
This isn’t about security. It’s about power and exploitation…
This system needs to be called out and changed.
And it’s time African governments started protecting their citizens from this daylight exploitation.
