Unpopular opinion:
The more we use AI and the more AI builds products, only one thing will matter: Products with soul.
Choices that aren’t always “optimal” but are unmistakably human.
What I learned from Brian Chesky, founder of Airbnb, at his YC keynote:
•There is the right way, and there is your way.
•Don’t apologize for how you run your company.
•Don’t overly delegate.
•Be in the details.
•Partner with people, help them solve problems.
•Take care of yourself.
•Make sure you sleep well.
•It’s your job to hire the best people of their generation.
•Hire people who make you never want to hire “normal” people again.
•Never make decisions out of fear; the best decisions always come from courage.
•Don’t worry about the rest of your life, what if now is as good as it gets?
•The whole point is to have fun.
Happy Thanksgiving @bchesky and thank you for the inspiration.
One of my favorite lessons I’ve learnt from working with smart people:
Action produces information. If you’re unsure of what to do, just do anything, even if it’s the wrong thing. This will give you information about what you should actually be doing.
Sounds simple on the surface - the hard part is making it part of your every day working process.
