Increasingly rich coverage of HTS's governance in Idlib, before the takeover, @CNN@nytimes https://t.co/oAPdhJljIt https://t.co/CWfTrgKvbW We covered issues such as HTS's new religious views a few years back too: https://t.co/QPBII4yx3k @CrisisGroup
Syrians are closely monitoring every report published and will expose and challenge any narrative that misleads the audience and disrespects the suffering of real victims.
Great work by @VeSyriaE exposing @CNN misleading report by @clarissaward

If this is confirmed, it'd mean that #Italy's intelligence chief tried to save a regime guilty of a million deaths & crimes against humanity on probably the highest scale of the 21st century.
An investigation must be launched and those responsible, whoever they may be, dismissed.
Mercy to our martyrs, congratulations to our liberated detainees, patience for the families of the missing people, and a dignified return for the displaced.
Long live Syrian people, free and with dignity on their soil. read full statement https://t.co/ozYOk37sIY

🧵🚨 HTS and its governance model:
1- One of my biggest regrets is not turning my PhD thesis on HTS and its governance model into a book. The topic remains critical for understanding how HTS has reached its current position and how it will likely act moving forward.
While calls for peaceful coexistence between sects are well noted, it would be welcome if @GERonSyria would also call for:
- continued protection of Syrian asylum seekers in Germany
- an immediate end to airstrikes in Syria by Turkey (a NATO member) and Israel (a German ally)
On the left, in 2020, a United Nations Development Programme official celebrating the opening of the Harasta hospital in rural Damascus with the help of UN support.
On the right, today, the bodies of murdered political prisoners piled upon each other at the same hospital.
Chaos surrounding the situation in Sednaya prison's underground sections & supposed other secret prisons under the feet of Damascenes that have yet to be opened. @SyriaCivilDef are trying to verify claims but they lack equipment to verify those reports. They need intl assistance.
Now I can proudly say that I spent the last seven years working at @SynapsNetwork
The fear from the oppressive Assad regime prevented me from being proud of my work.

Five years ago, a conversation transformed my understanding of Syria's prison sector—and the Syrian regime itself.
As Syrians excavate survivors from Sednaya, I’m sharing an edited transcript of that discussion. The speaker is an Arab researcher who spent decades in Damascus 🧵
If Western governments, the UN, the UN Special Envoy want to do something useful today to help Syrians: stop Israeli attacks and further occupation of Syrian lands.
Abdul Baset al-Sarout, Ghiath Matar, Mashaal Tammo, Bassel Shehadeh, Raed Fares, Naji al-Jarf, May Skaf, Fadwa Suleiman and many more … we will rename every street and corner of Syria after the martyrs of the Syrian revolution
Millions of displaced Syrians have achieved what the international community could not: they secured their voluntary return to homes they were forcibly displaced from, not through worldwide anti-immigration agendas, but through their own determination.
