Joel Murray talking about his brother Bill Murray making them miss a Grateful Dead concert they had tickets for in the '70s is honestly one of the best stories I've ever heard. Enjoy.
i think i’ve said this before, but the most inspiring design work is happening outside of consumer apps.
and Mixtape’s pause menu is just one great example.
2000 artistes ont été mis au défi de créer une animation 3D de 5 secondes pour faire descendre une balle du haut vers le bas de l’écran.
Toutes les séquences ont ensuite été assemblées pour créer une gigantesque machine à billes collaborative.
Looks-maxxing is dumb. You should be Greco-maxing.

Built me a little "Goldilocks" zone finder.
It's based on a feedback-loop with a convolutional shader that has 13 parameters - the problem is that about 95% of random parameter combinations result in a dead system that either goes to full black or white, but there is a zone where the parameters are just right and the system stays alive, but it's not a simple "stay in this range" issue.
So I trained a small model which tries to predict which parameter combinations are promising in order to explore the space of interesting systems. And now the model keeps improving itself by continuously testing its assumptions and retraining itself. And its "hit" rate is much better than me pressing the space bar.
experimental prototype of a music game with a focus on expressive freestyling - the controller is kind of like a freeform dancefloor for your hands (music is from Parappa 2)
