WE ARE BEING HEARD. 🇨🇳🐾
Two developments in China are worth paying attention to.
In Huai’an, authorities recently disclosed the results of a public consultation. 148 of the 150 submissions concerned animal protection and cruelty.
And in Tianjin, volunteers attending a court hearing involving the alleged torture and killing of a cat reported that the judge explicitly referred to the sustained public attention surrounding animal cruelty cases.
Think about what that means.
148 out of 150 submissions.
Public attention acknowledged in court.
When a judge knows that thousands of people are watching a case, discussing it and demanding that animal cruelty be taken seriously, that scrutiny matters. Decisions are no longer being made in obscurity.
This is why we keep speaking.
Every post. Every letter. Every public submission. Every peaceful demonstration. Every person who refuses to let these animals be forgotten.
Change will not happen overnight. But there are growing signs that public concern about animal cruelty is reaching institutions in China.
Wang Wang, we will keep speaking for you and all the other victims.
We will keep calling for stronger animal-protection laws.
We are being heard. Now we need to become impossible to ignore.
