#UTVideo: The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (#ANSAM) organised a rally in #Imphal on June 20. The rally commenced from Tangkhul Baptist Church, Imphal, at 11:00 AM and proceeded via Khoyathong Traffic Point before culminating at Mao Market.
Held under the slogan, “United in purpose, united in voice,” the rally was organised to demand justice for the six #Naga civilians who were abducted and killed earlier this month, an incident that Naga organisations have attributed to #Kuki armed groups. Students and members of the Naga community participated in the rally, expressing solidarity with the bereaved families and calling for accountability for what they described as the gruesome murder of the six Naga men.
#Manipur: A large-scale peace protest was held in #Imphal on Saturday, June 20, demanding justice for six Naga civilians who were allegedly abducted and later killed in Leilon Vaiphei village in Manipur’s #Kangpokpi district.
The protest rally was organised by the All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) under the theme, “Demanding Justice for the Infamous Leilon Vaiphei Massacre Carried Out by KNF-P.” Participants described the demonstration as a peaceful mobilisation aimed at seeking accountability and urging government intervention.
🌐OFFICIAL STATEMENT: END THE PROXY WAR - BRING JUSTICE FOR THE SIX MARTYRS OF MANIPUR
1. A Heartbreaking Legacy of Impunity
It is heartbreaking to witness the continued detention, harassment, and indiscriminate frisking of innocent Naga villagers by security forces of the Government of Manipur (GoM) and the Government of India (GoI) at Konsakhul on June 17, and across Naga villages in a systemic pattern that predates 1947. This unfolds as the community still mourns the brutal loss of six of its sons. We are compelled to ask: does any law in this country genuinely uphold the safety and security of every community, or has justice been selectively suspended?
2. The Atrocity: Abduction and Mutilation
On May 13, 2026, eighteen Naga civilians including pastors and farmers were abducted from Leilon Vaiphei Kuki Refugee village. They were stopped at a bamboo gate by local residents, including village chief Lalboi Vaiphei, and handed over to armed cadres of the Kuki National Front (KNF-P), a group operating under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement.
While some hostages were later released, six men remained captive. Their bodies were recovered on June 10, 2026 nearly a month later mutilated beyond recognition, with eyes, ears, limbs, heads etc removed. Even with all medical experts and forensic teams assembled, the remains were so disfigured that only two pastors could be identified by their clothing.
3. State Acknowledgment vs. Ground Reality
Even the Manipur Deputy Chief Minister has publicly acknowledged the KNF-P's responsibility, terming the brutality "beyond human belief." The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the case. Yet, to this day, not a single perpetrator has been apprehended even as witnesses directly point to the collusion of Leilon Vaiphei Kuki Refugee villagers, including women, in handing over the victims to KNF-P militants armed with sophisticated weapons.
Instead of pursuing the actual culprits, security forces have conducted large-scale operations in the grieving village of Konsakhul a victim village still mourning its dead compounding the trauma of bereaved families.
4. Unanswered Questions
Are the security forces attempting to destroy evidence? Is this delay a deliberate strategy to shield the perpetrators? Are Kuki refugees being trained to defend themselves with lies and false propaganda?
The Naga people have suffered torture, murder, assassination, harassment, rape, abduction, and killing at the hands of Indian security forces a pattern of cruelty that predates 1947. Enough is enough. We Nagas are not cowards. We are not blind. Please do not mistake our peace-loving nature and generosity for weakness.
5. The Legal Absurdity and the Call for Accountability
Justice is being deliberately delayed under the cover of the SoO agreement, while Kuki groups enjoying the highest support from Indian security forces take active steps in attacking Naga civilians and villages. The United Naga Council (UNC) and the Joint Tribes' Council Manipur (JTCM) have already submitted a charter of demands.

NH-202 Remains Under Siege: Three Naga Civilians Rescued After Alleged Detention by Kuki Volunteers, Fresh Concerns Over Traveller Safety
The Dawn Tantak( TDT News)
UKHRUL June 19:
SERIOUS concerns over the safety and free movement of civilians along the Imphal–Ukhrul National Highway (NH-202) have resurfaced after three Naga civilians were allegedly detained by Kuki volunteers at Mongkot Chepu in Ukhrul district before being rescued by personnel of Litan Police Station.
According to police sources, the three civilians—Masingleng Vashum, Wungpam Vashum and Ringso Vashum, all residents of New Tusom village in Ukhrul district—were travelling to Imphal in an Alto vehicle when they were intercepted by Kuki volunteers along the highway. The trio was reportedly taken to a secluded room and detained for hours.
Acting swiftly on receiving information, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Litan Police Station and his team intervened and successfully secured their release.
Speaking to ' The Dawn Tantak' Wungpam Vashum recounted the ordeal, stating that they were travelling to Imphal due to a medical emergency involving his younger brother. He said they had been waiting for an escort at Litan when a convoy of Manipur Rifles passed along NH-202, prompting them to follow the convoy for safety.
“Before reaching Litan Bridge, our vehicle was overtaken by a DI pickup truck. At Mongkot Chepu, the pickup was stopped by the volunteers, who allegedly collected money from the occupants before allowing them to proceed. When they learned that we were Tangkhul Nagas, we were ordered out of our vehicle and taken to a nearby room,” he alleged.
According to Wungpam, the volunteers questioned their presence on the highway and warned them against using NH-202. He further claimed that they were told to inform other Tangkhuls not to travel along the route and were allegedly threatened that their lives were “in their hands.”
The incident has once again raised alarm over the continuing insecurity and restrictions reportedly faced by civilians travelling along the strategic highway connecting Imphal and Ukhrul. Residents and travellers have increasingly expressed concerns over alleged intimidation, illegal checks and the absence of unhindered movement on the route.
Wungpam praised the timely intervention of the Litan Police team, stating that one of the volunteers had even openly challenged the OC for rescuing them. Despite the tense situation, the police officer reportedly escorted the civilians safely up to Yangangpokpi.
“We are deeply grateful to the OC and his team. Their courage and prompt action ensured our safe release,” Wungpam said.
The incident is expected to renew calls for stronger security measures and the restoration of safe, unrestricted civilian movement along NH-202. (courtesy: the dawn Tantak)

NHRC @India_NHRC Seeks Action Taken Report from Kangpokpi SP in Case of Six Deceased Naga Youths
TMB News Network
Imphal, June 18: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed the Superintendent of Police, Kangpokpi, to submit an Action Taken Report within eight weeks in connection with a complaint concerning six Naga youths who had gone missing and were later found dead.
The complaint was filed before the Commission on May 22, 2026, by Chingthang Nambam, Publicity Secretary of Uripok Apunba Lup, seeking the intervention of the apex human rights body in the matter.
Acting on the complaint, the NHRC issued a notice to the Superintendent of Police, Kangpokpi, calling for a detailed report on the action taken by the district police. The communication was issued by Atul Kumar, Assistant Registrar (Law), SB-5 Section, NHRC.
According to the complainant, the Commission's intervention remains significant despite the recovery of the bodies, as the focus now is on determining whether the authorities had taken adequate measures to rescue the victims and subsequently conduct a thorough investigation into the case.
The Action Taken Report is expected to provide details regarding the progress of the investigation, including whether the perpetrators have been identified or arrested and what measures have been undertaken by the authorities. It was further stated that if the report contains loopholes, omits crucial facts, or fails to adequately explain the action taken by the authorities, the matter may be pursued through appropriate legal channels, including judicial intervention.
The NHRC's directive is being viewed as an important step towards ensuring accountability and transparency in the handling of the case. The findings arising from the Commission's scrutiny and any subsequent legal proceedings could have wider implications for the authorities concerned.
Further developments are awaited pending submission of the Action Taken Report by the Kangpokpi district police.

🌐A proud Naga Girl at "Rashtriya Yuva Sansad 2026" (National Youth Parliament) event held at Doon University, Dehradun, on June 17, 2026.
The speaker: Ms. Chagaliu Pamai, from Nallong Village, Tamei, Tamenglong District, Manipur, proudly represented Nagaland as a student of St. Xavier College Jalukie.
A representative from the tribal community of Nagaland, presents a critical perspective on the current state of Indian governance, particularly focusing on the impact of frequent elections on national development.
Key points from the speech include:
Disruption of Governance: The speaker argues that constant election cycles create a "campaign mode" within the government, which stalls policy implementation and hinders development.
Economic Impact: High election expenditures are highlighted, with the speaker suggesting that these funds could be better utilized for essential services like healthcare, education, and defense.
Policy Delays: Instances of development projects being delayed due to political shifts or electoral processes, such as a startup policy in Bangalore and an irrigation project in Uttar Pradesh, are mentioned.
"One Nation, One Election": The speaker advocates for the "One Nation, One Election" concept, framing it not just as a reform, but as a revolutionary step necessary for the nation's progress and the realization of its visionary goals.
Call to Action: The speech concludes with a call for leaders to move beyond "fragmented governance" and focus on making bold, decisive actions to build a greater nation, echoing the spirit of past Indian leaders like Dr. Ambedkar, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
