Did you know?
Every year on July 20th, the world unites for World Cleft Awareness Day.
It’s more than just a date on the calendar. This day was established to give a voice to the millions affected by cleft conditions, challenging the myths and stigmas that still exist today.
In Rwanda, where we face a significant prevalence of orofacial clefts, this day is a vital reminder: a cleft is not a life sentence it is a treatable condition.
Together, we are shifting the narrative from stigma to support.

Did you know that 1 in 700 babies worldwide is born with a cleft lip and/or palate?
Clefts can affect eating, breathing, hearing, and speaking, yet there is still so much the world doesn't understand about them.
This World Cleft Awareness Day on July 20th , help us change that.
What do you want the world to understand about a cleft lip and a cleft palate? Share your voice and help spread awareness, understanding, and acceptance.

We also commend @RwandaHealth for its ongoing 4×4 Reform Programme aimed at strengthening and expanding Rwanda's health workforce.
As future healthcare professionals, we believe that stronger surgical systems begin with investing in students through education, mentorship, research, and early surgical exposure.
