He studied Microbiology at UNILAG. Got a First class in 1980. The First first-class in that course in the department.
Has over 70 scientific research publications in fields like molecular genetics and Biotechnology
Dr D.K. Olukoya is 69 🇳🇬
His Father was a police officer. Mother was a trader. He is the only son.
At Methodist Boy High School, they told him to read like his life depended on it. He has said he studied 9pm to 3am. Best graduating student of his set.
Got a Scholarship to the University of Reading, UK. PhD in Molecular Genetics in three years. Then he came home.
Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, Yaba. Dozens of scientific papers. He is widely called the first Nigerian scientist to clone genes.
In October 1989 at his Living room in Yaba, there were Twenty-four people in a prayer meeting.
That meeting became Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries.
On 24 April 1994, the first service was held on a rough piece of land at Onike, Yaba. Swamp. Weeds. Makeshift roof.
Today MFM is in many countries.
Prayer City sits on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. Mountain Top University. He was named Professor of Biotechnology there.
UNILAG later gave him a Doctor of Science.
The books are the other pulpit. Prayer Rain is the one most houses know.
Married to Pastor Folashade Olukoya. They have a son, Elijah Toluwani. (just like how he was the only son of his parents)
He is a Scientist, Pastor, Author...all in the same man.
People argue about the fire. Fewer people argue about the first-class and scientific prowess.

What a journey it has been for Dr D.K Olukoya
The policeman's son who finished a PhD in three years… then packed a living room until it became a mountain.
.
.
You see, I've seen many of us pick only one identity and then bury the rest.
They will see things like "I am only church"
"I am only school"
"I am only hustle, I can't do other things....etc"
.
.
But Dr Olukoya sat in a laboratory and still opened his sitting room to start the ministry.
The degree did not cancel the prayer.
The prayer did not cancel the degree.
.
.
.
So I want you to ask yourself today
Which gift did you drop because it did not look spiritual enough?
Which calling did you delay because it did not look academic enough?
Who told you that excellence and faith cannot live in one body?
.
.
.
Look at his beginning.
Just 24 people and a rented location in a swamp.
.
.
You see....
Nobody starts as Prayer City.
But somebody starts as 9pm to 3am.
Somebody starts as the first first-class.
Somebody starts as a living room that looks too small for a vision.
.
.
So today, I reallyyy want you to do the work in the dark.
Read when the house is asleep.
Build the skill that can travel.
Open the room you actually have.
Don't wait for someone's approval before you obey the instruction.
Some mountains begin as sitting rooms. As you've just read above.
.
.
.
Today, I pray you become so faithful with the small place you have. And that the works of your hands will be fruitful and yield bountifully 🫂
.
.
Thank you so much for reading
Remember to stay hydrated today 💦

My final PhD GPA at Johns Hopkins is 3.90/4.0.
But there is a deeper meaning to this
My Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) aggregate was DOUBLE DIGITS. (Abofour L/A JHS)
For readers outside Ghana: the BECE is the junior high exit exam, and a lower aggregate is better. An aggregate of six (06) is excellent.
A double-digit BECE grade means you struggled, and the good senior high schools will probably not take you, especially as a science student.
Basic school and junior high school were a struggle. (Abofour R/C primary & Abofour L/A JHS)
My foundation was thin.
Nothing in my results suggested a scientist was in there.
Senior high school is where I found myself. Then medical school. Then Johns Hopkins.
I am not sharing this GPA because the number matters much.
Grades in a PhD are a by-product. They come from trying to actually understand the thing, not from chasing the A.
Some of my B's taught me more than my A's did.
I am sharing it because of what the two numbers say together.
The boy with a double-digit BECE grade and the man with the Johns Hopkins PhD GPA of 3.90/4 have the same brain.
What changed was the environment, the support, and the timing of when my potential finally got room to show.
Hundreds of thousands of students are like the early version of me.
Their circumstances arrive before their potential does.
Their early numbers describe their surroundings.
Which is why I argue for something simple in admissions and hiring:
→ Look at where someone started, not only where they are.
↳ A 70th percentile from a disadvantaged start can be more impressive than a 95th from a comfortable one.
→ Distance traveled is data. The raw number hides it.
Given the same resources, most of my junior high classmates in the small Abofour town would have posted a 3.9 GPA too.
That is the part the transcript cannot show.
My Dad is currently in the ICU and they are saying he’s hour by hour.
If you guys could please pray for my Dad, I would be forever grateful ❤️
I have genuine faith in prayer, I appreciate everyone who can say one

First DOCTOR in the family!!!
Alhamdulillah!♥️
Growing up, my mother would always say ‘May your name only appear in the newspaper for good and never for evil’.
Today, I was featured in Punch Newspaper for graduating from Law with a 4.69 CGPA.
I am truly the daughter of a praying mother.
Thank you @MobilePunch
4.97 / 5.00 CGPA. 🎓
Overall Best Graduating Student, Lagos State University (2025/2026).
My journey didn’t start at LASU; it started in Sango Ota, Ogun State, at Top's Bright International School. After I was sent home from my previous school in Lagos during JSS3 because of unpaid fees, severe family hardship forced us to relocate to Ota.
Things were financially tough growing up. There were days I was sent home for school fees, but I stayed consistent at the top of my class. Seeing my dedication, my school proprietor did something remarkable: he cleared all my outstanding debts, granted me a full scholarship through SS3, covered my WAEC fees, and supported my UTME fees.
I will never forget the teachers who believed in me, teachers who gave me money to buy food to eat during school lunch break, Master Timothy Chinedu, and Mr. Tayo Ajileye, who enrolled me in free extra lessons. Everyone supported me with the little they had. That kindness proved to me early on that hard work and diligence pay off.
Entering LASU, my drive was simple: to make my family, my teachers, my proprietor, and everyone who invested in me proud.

There is power in the name of Jesus
There is power in the name of Jesus
There is power in the name of Jesus
To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain
To break every chain, break every chain, break every chain
I just saw a quote that has lifted my faith even more
“If Jesus taught us to pray, it means that He intends to answer”
Don’t stop praying child of God. Your Father is hearing and will answer.
4/4 📚✅💎✨ after many years in the game, mission: become an academic weapon is finally COMPLETE.
Call me Dr. Varaidzo Kativhu, PhD. 🎓- a doctor of Education, ready to help transform education systems so they better serve girls and marginalised communities everywhere.
Now, the real work begins. 🌍
I am excited to announce that I have started a Ph.D. program in English— fully funded — through a competitive and prestigious University Fellowship, here in the U.S.
I also got other fully funded Ph.Ds in Comparative Literature with 5 additional fundings.
Thank you all for your congratulatory wishes. I really appreciate them. My mummy said I should also thank you guys🔥😂
btw, I’m still looking for Oil&Gas job @SeplatEnergy@HeirsEnergies@Chevron
I have experience leading a Petroleum Engineering community and one of my published papers is on using Deep Neural networks for the detection of offshore and onshore oil spills.
NB: I dey always deliver!!🤲🏾
