@Austen for companies that aren't on the VC fund raising circuit and racing for an exit, this makes sense as a simple way to give employees a piece of the upside in the event of an acquisition
@ThePatientSpec@costakonti1@BoringBiz_ It’s funny to read this far down to find you’re not actually talking about sacrificing your own prosperity in your virtuous support of a great reset of house prices.
@DennisCW_ The interior quality on the new Y is amazing, previous gen 3 and Y were terrible but the bad interior quality stuff about Tesla is just not true anymore
Mark Zuckerberg on the best advice Peter Thiel ever gave him
“Peter was the person who told me this really pithy quote that, ‘In a world that’s changing so quickly, the biggest risk you can take is not taking any risk.’ And I really think that that is true.”
Mark continues:
“Whenever you get yourself into a position where you have to make some big shift in direction or do something, there are always people who are going to point to the downside risks of that decision — and locally they may be right. For any given decision you make, there’s upside and downside. But in aggregate, if you are stagnant and you don’t make those changes, then I think you’re guaranteed to fail and not catch up. So to some degree, I think it’s really right that, over time, the biggest risk you can take is to not take any risks.”

Steve Jobs on the most important job of a CEO
“The greatest people are self-managing. They don’t need to be managed. Once they know what to do, they’ll go figure out how to do it… What they need is a common vision, and that’s what leadership is. Leadership is having a vision, being able to articulate that so the people around you can understand it, and getting consensus on a common vision.”
Steve continues:
“We wanted people who were insanely great at what they did… and the neatest thing that happens when you get a core group ten great people is that it becomes self-policing as to who they let into that group. So I consider the most important job of someone like myself is recruiting.”
“The fishermen know that the sea is dangerous and the storm terrible, but they have never found these dangers sufficient reason for remaining ashore.” - Van Gogh
@codyplof Great list, times like this are tough but my motivation and overarching goal is to come out the other side stronger. We were carrying SO many excessive/unnecessary expenses, it's a lot of work but it feels amazing to dial those in.
