On September 17, 1948 - the day after Count Bernadotte submitted his report advocating Palestinian right of return - four Lehi operatives ambushed his motorcade in Jerusalem and killed him.

Bernadotte was not a random diplomat. He was the man who had rescued over 30,000 prisoners from Nazi concentration camps through negotiations with Heinrich Himmler in the final months of the war. He saved more Jews from the Holocaust than almost any other individual.

His final report to the UN Secretary-General stated: 'It would be an offense against the principles of elemental justice if these innocent victims of the conflict were denied the right to return to their homes, while Jewish immigrants flow into Palestine.'

The man who saved 30,000 Jews from Nazi death camps was assassinated by Jewish extremists for defending Palestinian rights.

The brains behind the assassination: Yitzhak Shamir - future Prime Minister of Israel (1983-1992).

Israel arrested and tried some Lehi members for the murder. They were pardoned almost immediately.

UN Resolution 194 - adopted December 1948 - affirmed the right of return for Palestinian refugees. It has never been implemented.

En el aniversario de la liberación de París, recordar cómo Francia ocultó en el Desfile de la Victoria a miles de soldados negros senegaleses que lucharon contra los nazis, en Thiaroye (Senegal) los franceses terminarían fusilando a 400 de ellos.

En la Segunda Guerra Mundial, alrededor de 1.300 soldados senegaleses fueron reclutados forzosamente por el colonialismo francés para ser enviados como carne de cañón al frente contra tropas de élite nazis, a pesar de estar en primera linea de fuego, solo un 10% de los soldados negros fueron abatidos, aunque caerían apresados tras la caída de Francia a manos de los nazis.

Después de ser liberada Francia de los nazis, lejos de reconocer su sacrificio a estos soldados negros, fueron ocultados en el Desfile de la Victoria y fueron deportados de vuelta a Senegal, internados en campos de concentración en la ciudad de Thiaroye.

No solo los ignoraron y los expulsaron de Francia, los colonialistas franceses se negaron a pagarle ninguna remuneración por su lucha contra los nazis... por lo que 400 soldados negros protestaron y se negaron a volver a servir a los franceses.

Ante las protestas, el ejército colonial francés, con el general Dagnan al mando, ordenó fusilar a todos los soldados negros que estaban protestando por una misera pensión económica, matando al menos a 400 personas e hiriendo a cientos más.

Esta es la realidad de la "civilizada" Europa colonial, que era tan nazi y tan criminal como los propios alemanes.

A nuclear-armed entity, armed to the teeth and claiming regional military supremacy, terrorizing, bombing multiple states, genociding the population of one state while ethnically cleansing the population of another state, is threatening another devastating attack because children in Gaza are flying paper kites.

Children living amid rubble.
Children with barely any electricity, food, water or normal childhood left.

And somehow, the paper kite is the threat that requires an ultimatum.

Let that sink in. Not a missile. Not a fighter jet. Not an army.

A piece of paper. A string. And a child.

She joins Dr Hussam Abu Safiya, Dr Iyad Al-Rantisi, Dr Mohammed Obeid and scores of others in arbitrary Israeli detention. They have not been charged with any offence; they were simply treating patients. That is not a crime.
